Though considerably smaller than most of the other movies on this list, The Guard is one worth seeking out. This Irish dark comedy stars Brendan Gleeson as a lazy and blunt cop who is forced into a drug-smuggling conspiracy when an ambitious FBI agent comes to his small village.

Gleeson gives a hilarious and hugely entertaining performance as the very reluctant hero. He and Cheadle also have great chemistry. The movie is a small yet very effective crime comedy that will leave a smile on your face.

9 Reign Over Me (2007) – 7.4

The movie is a fast-paced adventure with a dark tone to it as Thanos feels like the main character in the film. It is also an exciting way to bring many of the heroes together that have never shared the screen before.
