10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

True to their type, Ghost Pokémon are arguably the most mysterious of all Pokémon, with their entries in the Pokedex full of legends and myths that are sometimes too spooky and haunted to believe.

They make formidable opponents from the get-go, but when another type is thrown into the mix, that combination often makes for some of the strongest Pokémon in existence. With the edition of each new generation, the combinations have gotten more imaginative, making for truly unique Pokémon and giving the Pokedex even more mythic and eerie entries to fuel the nightmares of every fan.

10 Giratina

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

One of the legendary Creation Trio from Generation IV, Giratina stands out by having a second form (Origin Forme is activated when in the Distortion World or holding the Griseous Orb). True to its legendary status, it has a fantastic base stat total of 680, standing out in Attack and SP Attack. With its other type being Dragon, only the more obscure types of attacks have any significant damage. On the other hand, it is immune or resistant to a whopping eight types of attacks, among them the most common types in the Pokémon World.

9 Marshadow

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

One of the rare mythical Pokémon of Generation VII and the last one listed in the Alola Pokedex, Marshadow offers a unique combination with its second type being Fighting. In fact, Marshadow is the only Ghost/Fighting-type Pokémon (so far). It has an impressive base stat total of 600, standing out in Speed and Attack. While weak against four types (Psychic, Flying, Ghost, and Fairy), Marshadow’s base power level coupled with its immunity or resistance to five different attack types makes it a nasty opponent, able to dish out much more than the average Pokémon.

8 Mimikyu

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

Another rare combination from Generation VII, Mimikyu is the sole Pokémon of the Ghost/Fairy dual-type variety. It wears a disguise over its body that eerily resembles Pikachu, and oddly enough is one of the most popular Pokémon among fans (was voted the most popular Generation VII Pokémon by fans in a poll held by The Pokémon Company in 2020).

It has a base stat total of 476, with its strengths residing in SP Defense and Speed. While it’s only weak against Ghost and Steel-type attacks, its most intimidating feature is its original Pokedex entry; “Its actual appearance is unknown. A scholar who saw what was under its rag was overwhelmed by terror and died from shock.”

7 Aegislash

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

The evolved form of Doublade (when exposed to the Dusk Stone), Aegislash hails from Generation VI and is a Ghost/Steel type. It possesses the ability to change form (Shield Forme or Blade Forme) during battle, depending on the attack it’s using. Aegislash has a base stat total of 520, standing out in either Attack and SP Attack, or Defense and SP Defense depending on what form it’s in. while it’s particularly weak to four types of attacks, it’s resistant or immune to an incredible twelve different types, making for an opponent that no one wants to see on the battlefield.

6 Dhelmise

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

Despite resembling a sunken anchor, Dhelmise’s dual type is surprisingly Ghost and Grass. From Generation VII, it has a base stat total of 517 (the only Pokémon with that specific total), scoring high in Defense, but especially Attack. While it can take significant damage from five different types of attacks (Flying, Ghost, Fire, Ice, and Dark), it is not a foe to be taken lightly. In fact, according to its original Pokedex entry, Dhelmise can knock out a Wailord with a single swing from its mighty anchor.

5 Dragapult

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

The evolved form of Drakloak (and the final form of Dreepy), Dragapult is of the most recent Generation VIII, with its other type predictably being Dragon. It is also considered a pseudo-legendary Pokémon.

It has a notable base stat total of 600 (a pre-requisite for being a pseudo-legendary), standing out in Attack, SP Attack, and especially Speed. Oddly enough it houses two of its base form, Dreepy, in the holes of its horns, and thanks to its exclusive move, Dragon Darts, can actually launch the Dreepy like missiles.

4 Lunala

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

One of the legendary Light Trio of Generation VII (along with Necrozma and Solgaleo), Lunala evolves from Cosmoem and is the final form of Cosmog. Tied with Giratina with a towering base stat total of 680, Lunala scores high in HP, SP Attack, and Attack, with notable SP Defense to boot. It is only weak to Ghost and Dark, and by using the N-Lunarizer (a special Key item) it can fuse with fellow Light Trio member Necrozma to become the powerful Dawn Wings Necrozma. As mysterious as any Ghost Pokémon, according to the Pokedex, Lunala is able to travel to another world when its third eye is activated.

3 Decidueye

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

The evolved form of Dartix (and the final form of Rowlet), Decidueye is surprisingly a Ghost/Grass type, despite strongly resembling an owl. Part of Generation VII, Decidueye has a base stat total of 530, standing out in Attack, SP Attack, and SP Defense. While weak against five different types of attack, Decidueye balances out by being immune or resistant to six attack types. The only Ghost-type among the starter Pokémon to date (evolutions included of course), Decidueye offers a unique combination for a trainer to have on their roster, and a challenging wrinkle to throw at opponents in battle.

2 Blacephalon

10 Best DualType Ghost Pokémon

One of the fabled Ultra Beasts (a group of extradimensional Pokémon that come from a place deemed the Ultra Space), Blacephalon (code name UB Burst) was first introduced in the recent Generation VII, and can sporadically appear from Ultra Wormholes in Alola.

Its base stat total is 570, with particularly high marks in SP Attack and Attack. With the combination of being a Ghost/Fire-type, having immunity or resistance to nine types of attacks, and resembling a space clown with a tendency to blow up its own head, Blaecphalon makes for a pretty intimidating package.

1 Gengar

One of the original Ghost dual-types, as well as being one of the first Pokémon to appear in the original video game and show alike, Gengar is truly a legend in its own right. From Generation I, it has a base stat total of 500, standing out in Speed and SP Attack. In the generations since its introduction, the Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon (along with Gastly and Haunter, the only Pokemon with that specific type combination) has been granted two new forms in Gigantamax Gengar and Mega Gengar (a Mega Evolution triggered by the held item, Gengarite).
