Erin Brockovich is the true story of a professionally inexperienced, struggling single mother of three children who time and time again is undervalued, and time again proves her immense worth. Erin does not think people should hire her because they should feel bad for her. This is why the investigation began in the first place, because Erin saw past what was written on a document.

Erin makes perhaps her most powerful statement in the film. She exposes the absolute ignorance of the lawyers in suggesting that these people who suffer every day are driven at all by greed or ideals of glamour. Such an assertion assumes that members of the lower class exist in a state of self-conscious inferiority, always striving to be more accepted by social standards. Aside from illness, Erin has been one of these people, and she knows better.
