10 Disney Villains Who Deserved Harsher Consequences

In Disney movies, good always triumphs over evil as the villains are brought to justice. But many deserve harsher consequences than the ones they get.

When thinking about family-friendly movies, the films that most often come to mind are Disney movies. Though these movies frequently have light-hearted aspects, many of the films also contain dark characters and storylines perpetuated by villains. The villains are central to the plot and often serve as some sort of message or moral for the viewer.
In Disney movies, good always triumphs over evil as the villains are brought to justice. But that justice may look very different for each character. Some characters face the ultimate consequence as they die a brutal death. Other characters have significantly lighter ramifications. Check out these Disney villains who deserved harsher consequences than they received.
10 Stromboli
Stromboli is an antagonist in the film Pinocchio. He is a greedy puppeteer who will do anything to make a quick buck. When he discovers Pinocchio, he realizes that some people would pay a great amount of money for a puppet with no strings. He convinces Pinocchio to appear in a show. After Pinocchio’s success, Stromboli traps him in a cage, planning to enslave him and then burn him for firewood when he grows too old and weak to perform.
In the film, Pinocchio escapes and Stromboli faces no consequences for his actions. A later appearance on an episode of House of Mouse called “House of Crime” seemed to imply that he was temporarily imprisoned but Stromboli is later shown in other specials living his life as a free man.
9 Amos Slade
Amos is a hunter from the film The Fox and the Hound. He is furious when his hunting dog, Copper, befriends a fox named Tod. Tod happens to be a pet of Amos’ neighbor, Widow Tweed. Amos tries to kill Tod on multiple occasions, firing a rifle at him. He regularly threatens Widow and she begins to fear for Tod’s life.
In an attempt to keep Tod safe, Widow brings him to a game preserve and lets him go free. This doesn’t deter Amos and he heads to the preserve intending to kill Tod. Though Tod lives, Amos is never punished for his vile behavior. In fact, one of the last shots in the film is of him being healed and comforted by Widow Tweed after a hunting accident.
8 Man
The villain in Bambi is simply known as “Man.” This villain is considered by many to have carried out one of the cruelest acts in Disney history as he killed Bambi’s mom and injured Bambi. Later in the movie, Man and his fellow hunters’ campfire causes a forest fire.
Disney originally planned to have consequences for this character as they created a deleted scene that shows Man burned in the forest fire he created. This scene was cut from the movie after Disney decided it was too dark, leaving Man with no canonical consequences.
7 Stinky Pete
Stinky Pete is the villain in Toy Story 2. Pete was frustrated by his situation as he was kept away from children and had no one to play with him. This made him bitter and he was determined to stop other toys from being played with as well. He caused fighting between Woody and his friends, injured Woody’s arm, and captured Woody and his friends to prevent them from returning to Andy.
What is Pete’s punishment for all of this? He is given to a young girl named Amy who enjoys painting the faces of her toys. Pete cries as he is taken to her home. This ending is sexist and doesn’t provide good consequences for Pete as he is finally getting what he wants by having an owner to play with him.
6 Lotso
Lotso proves how cunning and intelligent he is in Toy Story 3. He runs the daycare center, pretending to be warm and kind. Behind this facade is a ruthless dictator with no redeeming qualities. Lotso makes the lives of Andy’s toys a living hell. He does not grow or change throughout the movie and almost causes Andy’s toys to be incinerated.
His punishment is being tied to the front of a truck, but this punishment doesn’t seem cruel enough for Lotso. This bear has already proven how resourceful and clever he is. He will likely find a way to make this situation work well for himself and continue with his evil ways.
5 Hans
In Frozen, Hans pretending to be a hero while secretly working against Elsa and Anna. He was determined to rule over Arendell at all costs and creates an evil plan in which he is almost responsible for the death of both princesses.
At the end of the film, Hans is arrested and released to his kingdom to be punished there. It seems like his brothers are excited to have him captured, however, no one knows for sure what punishment he received. Perhaps the rest of his family is just as evil as him and Hans is running free, scamming another princess out of her throne.
4 Cruella De Vil
This 101 Dalmatians character is so evil that her name is literally a play on the words “cruel devil.” She is determined to steal and murder puppies because she wants to turn them into a coat.
Her plan is eventually foiled and her car is sent tumbling down a hill. Though her car is destroyed and her coat is ruined, Cruella is fine. Many presume that Cruella would have been arrested after the film for her crimes, but this justice is never shown on screen. This leaves Cruella as one of the only Disney villains to receive almost no consequences for her actions.
3 Shere Khan
Shere Khan is the cat with 7 lives. Though he tried to hunt and kill Mowgli in both The Jungle Book and The Jungle Book 2, he was unsuccessful in both films. He does injury many other animals, most notably Mowgli’s friend Baloo.
In both films, Shere Khan is injured, but the punishment is more embarrassment than anything else. This will only further fuel his hatred and likely lead to future attacks.
2 Lady Tremaine
Lady Tremaine is Cinderella’s evil stepmother. She tortures and abuses Cinderella, all while laughing with her daughters at Cinderella’s expense. At the end of Cinderella, Lady Tremaine faces no consequences.
Lady Tremaine continues to attempt to ruin Cinderella’s life through 2 sequels. She is given a consequence for the first time at the end of Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. However, her only consequence for 3 movies of torture is that she must work as a servant for Cinderella. This seems like an extremely light sentence considered the crimes committed.
1 Governor Ratcliffe
Governor Ratcliffe is one of the worst villains in all of Disney history. He is incredibly prejudiced towards the Natives and he is vicious in his attacks and theft of their land and resources. When his men are moved by Pocahontas’ speech, they drop their weapons.
This only further infuriates Ratcliffe and he grabs for a weapon, attempting to shoot Powhatan. John Smith jumps in front of the bullet and Ratcliffe’s men turn against him, trying him to the ship and sending him back to England. In the Pocahontas sequel, it is revealed that Ratcliffe convinced the King that John was the traitor and continued to live his life. At the end of the sequel he is arrested, but Ratcliffe deserved a worse fate.
