10 Harry Potter Characters Reimagined As Disney Princesses

We realize not all of them are Disney Princesses, as such, but there’s a surprising lack of fanart that goes HP to Disney, and not Disney to HP. Quite a lot of what we DID find was from some dollmaker app. It’s hard to imagine two more powerful popular culture juggernauts than Disney and Harry Potter. Between the two of them, they have largely shaped the popular culture landscape, defining heroism and magic for an entire generation of moviegoers.

It should come as no surprise, then, that there are some clever internet artists that have managed to bring together these two worlds with, it must be said, a significant amount of flair and imagination. Here are ten Harry Potter characters reimagined as Disney princesses.

10 Narcissa Malfoy

Narcissa is one of the most enigmatic characters in the Harry Potter universe. Though married to a notorious villain like Lucius, she seems to be far less invested in the same sorts of blood purity issues that he is. In fact, she cares more about Draco than almost anything else.

This particular illustration casts her in a rather different light, with a hint of vulnerability in her gaze, a sense that she knows that something wicked this way comes. Check out liquidvamp13’s DeviantArt!

9 Ron and Hermione as the Beast and Belle

From the very beginning, most people assumed (rightly) that Hermione and Ron were going to end up together. Oh sure, there were a few speed bumps along the way, and there’s no doubt that Hermione is the brains of the couple. That’s what makes this reimagining of them as a classic couple of Belle and the Beast so apt.

One can truly imagine them dancing elegantly across the floor at Hogwarts. What really stands out in this image, however, is how well it captures the genuine love the two have for one another. Fanart by DLapiz.

8 Disney’s Death Eaters

One of the many things that Disney and Harry Potter have in common is absolutely compelling villains. On the Disney side, you have such iconic figures as Ursula, Maleficent, and Scar, while on the Harry Potter side you have Voldemort, Bellatrix, and Wormtail.

This artist has nicely captured the way that these two cadres of evil can mesh into one another, giving us a truly splendid portrait of a rogues gallery of the wicked. This art is by Zantror.

7 Draco Malfoy

As with any great villain, Draco Malfoy isn’t just pure evil; he has shades of complexity and morality that only become obvious as the series goes on. Here, we see a bit of that captured, for while he has the petulant and condescending expression that seems to be a fixture on his face, there’s also something sensitive about him, a sense that he is the way he is because of how he’s been raised.

The fact that the image is based on Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty helps us see the faint trace of nobility in Draco’s twisted soul. Credit goes to Afo2006 on Deviant Art.

6 A Disneyfied Order of the Phoenix

If the Death Eaters represent all that is cruel and dark about the wizarding world, then the Order of the Phoenix is the opposite, showing us the nobility and courage of the human spirit.

Here, they’ve been nicely translated into those Disney characters that similarly remind us of the beautiful things about the world that surrounds us, about the power of human kindness and compassion, of love and the ability to reach out and help another soul. 5 Voldemort/Hades

If anything, it actually makes Voldemort look more terrifying and unsettling than he already does in the movies, and that is no small accomplishment. Thanks to mistressmariko on Deviantart.

4 Snape and Frollo

In the annals of Disney, there’s no character quite like Frollo, the judge tortured by his illicit desire for the Gypsy girl Esmerelda. And in Harry Potter, there is no character quite like Severus Snape, who is similarly tormented by the fact that he can never be with his one true love, Lily Potter.

How fitting it is, then, that this artist has managed to capture the way the bitterness that motivates these two characters, even though one is truly evil and the other is, well, complicated. Courtesy of gating on Deviantart.

3 The Three Musketeers

This is one is, admittedly, a rather interesting mash-up. Here we have the central trio of the Harry Potter books–Ron, Hermione, and Harry–reimagined as Kristoff, Moana, and Prince Eric. While it might not make total sense at first glance, the more you think about it, the more you see the logic.

The artist also deserves even more credit for being willing to show Hermione, everyone’s favorite witch, as a woman of color (and one of Disney’s best princesses, to boot). Credit to johnsketchesstuff from DeviantArt.

2 Vanessa and Bellatrix

In the Harry Potter hierarchy of evil, Bellatrix Lestrange has to sit right below Voldemort himself. Known for her cruelty and her malice, she is the epitome of all that is terrible about the wizarding world.

How fitting, then, that she should be reimagined as Vanessa, the form that the sea witch Ursula adopts when she sets out to seduce Prince Eric and ruin Ariel’s life (and, of course, take over the ocean). Clearly, just because you’re beautiful doesn’t mean that you can’t be the epitome of evil. From afo2006 on DeviantArt.

1 Dumblmerlin

There are, perhaps, no two more iconic and wonderful wizards than Merlin and Dumbledore. Both serve as mentors to two boys that are left alone in the world, helping them to become better leaders and, just as importantly, better versions of themselves.

This artist has nicely captured the kindness and altruism that motivates both of these magical men. Just looking at them, you almost feel as if you are in the presence of goodness itself. Once again from afo2006.
