Walt Disney has been bringing movies to theaters for decades, and with each new one, there are new scenes to become embedded in our memories.

While we love that Disney has continued to produce new movies, there are some older films that have scenes so classic that we all know them like the back of our hands. Fans can often describe them in detail from memory, and each Disney moment holds a special place in our hearts. Here are 10 iconic scenes from Disney movies that we just know you can’t forget:

10 Tarzan – Beating His Chest

10 Iconic Disney Movie Scenes

When you think of Tarzan, the man raised in the jungle, what comes to mind? Besides his loving ape family and fashionable brown loincloth, you probably think of his famous yell and chest punch. It all started when Tarzan was a young boy, and he would imitate different animals and the sounds that they make.

After monkeying around on his jungle gym of a mother, she suggests that he tries to find his own sound. This leads to Tarzan perfecting his bellow that we all know today. Whenever anyone hears it, they immediately know that it’s Tarzan!

9 Pocahontas – Wave

10 Iconic Disney Movie Scenes

At the end of her movie, Pocahontas runs to the edge of a cliff to watch as her new friend John is taken away by boat. The anchor is raised, and the English men are ready to head back to where they came from. The wind picks up, sending a swirl of leaves past Pocahontas all the way to John on the boat.

Even though John likes hellos better than goodbyes, he lifts his hand and arm to wave to Pocahontas the way that she taught him. She does the same from where she stands on her rock, as the colors of the wind continue to blow through her hair. It’s a moment we watch with mixed emotions, but there’s no denying that her wave is powerful and moving.

7 The Little Mermaid – Hair Flip

10 Iconic Disney Movie Scenes

Chances are, if you were a child with long hair who enjoyed swimming and happened to be a fan of The Little Mermaid, you have tried the classic Ariel hair flip. Children everywhere would burst out of the water and jerk their head backward in the hopes of looking as majestic as Ariel did on screen.

Unfortunately, kids were often met with a face full of wet hair or a pulled muscle, and we never could get the sparkle of the water just right. Still, it’s a favorite scene among many that has us all pretending that we’re mermaids.

6 Beauty and the Beast – Dance

It’s a touching moment in this tale as old as time, and soon Beast plans to reveal his true feelings for the girl. If only the magical dance could last forever.

5 Fantasia – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

10 Iconic Disney Movie Scenes

“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” was originally a poem written in 1797, and it was revised to contain music one hundred years later in 1897. The symphonic piece was made popular in 1940 by Walt Disney when he included it in his film Fantasia.

Mickey Mouse plays the part of the apprentice who gets into a bit of trouble when he uses the sorcerer’s magic hat to charm a broom into doing his chores for him. The classic clip was brought to life again sixty years after Fantasia when it was used again in Fantasia 2000, and Mickey was just as adorable as we remember.

Aladdin has made a wish with the genie who lives in the magic lamp he found, and in the attempts to impress the beautiful Princess Jasmine, Aladdin has prepared a magic carpet ride.

He takes the girl on a bird’s eye view tour of the city, and the two sing together about how beautiful everything is and how wonderful it is to share the moment together. It’s enough to make us wish we could take our own magic carpet ride with that special someone over our favorite city.

2 Lady and the Tramp – Spaghetti

10 Iconic Disney Movie Scenes

Everybody knows the famous scene in Lady and the Tramp where the two star crossed loving pups take part in a romantic evening out on the town together, enjoying a delicious plate of spaghetti outside of Tony’s. With Tony playing the accordion and singing, “Bella Notte,” the hungry canines dig in.

They each slurp up a bit of pasta, not realizing that they are actually chowing down on the same piece until they meet in the middle as their lips touch. Lady shyly pulls away, and Tramp noses the last meatball over to her. Chances are if you’ve ever been on a date and shared a plate of spaghetti, you’ve at least thought about this puppy love moment. Bonus points to you if you offered your date the last meatball with your nose.

1 The Lion King – Baby Simba

It’s a scene unlike any other, where all different animals, in various rankings on the food chain, gather together to witness the first presentation of the future king of Pride Rock! Rafiki the baboon appears to baptize young Simba with the insides of a broken fruit and some sand from the lions’ den.

Then he takes the tiny cub and walks to the end of the rock before holding him up high for all to see. Animals everywhere cheer and bow down to the lion prince as Rafiki continues to hold Simba. This scene from The Lion King makes the top spot on our list, but it’s a moment that cats everywhere wish never happened, as they often find themselves hoisted into the air for the amusement of their owners.
