Don’t worry, there are many shows on Netflix that are titled under these two genre’s and often times combine love, thrill, a life threatening dilemma, and bits of comedy.

Supernatural and fantasy K-dramas can be anything from ghosts and the paranormal to parallel universes. There’s something incredibly addicting about K-dramas that will have any viewers binge-watching series after series. If the supernatural and fantasy are your preferred poisons, get ready to spend hours on Netflix.

10 Possessed (2019): 6.9

Possesed is a K-drama from 2019 that is perfect for anyone that wants the chilling thrill of trying to stop a ruthless serial killer combined with the theme of the paranormal. The show first starts with the introduction of a heinous serial killer years prior. Fast forward to the present day, there’s a new evil hoping to bring back the killer from the afterlife.

The show centers around a homicide detective who comes to meet a young woman who has the ability to see and communicate with the dead. They’re lives intertwine as they band together to stop a series of murders that are anything but ordinary. This show isn’t for the squeamish as it does have displays of violence and chilling moments.

9 The Bride Of Habeak (2017): 6.9

This K-drama is the definition of fantasy. What’s more other-worldly than a narcissistic god looking for a powerful stone on earth? The God of Water wants his rightful place on the throne but needs to make a trip to present day Seoul in order to retrieve three stones powerful enough to get what he wants.

The show also throws in a love interest when the god meets a neuropsychiatrist who was destined to be his bride. He finds himself not only weary of loving her but also must protect her from other gods who wish to complicate his plans. Fans loved the chemistry between the main characters but also the overall stories that set up the rest of the characters.

8 Abyss (2019): 7.1

Abyss will take viewers’ on a whirlwind of bizarre events, but it’s what makes the show so fun to watch. The show’s storyline premise will intrigue many to watch. Two friend’s are on different ends of the spectrum. One is the heir of a cosmetics company but deemed unattractive. The other is a beautiful prosecutor.

One fateful night they both die in different circumstances and are reincarnated by a supernatural being known as “Abyss.” This isn’t like the technology seen in Altered Carbon. There’s a catch. Their new forms take on the appearance of their souls. Despite their new looks, they have to uncover the truth to why they were reincarnated. The show is tagged by some fans for being good but lacking in certain character development and storylines.

7 Bring It On, Ghost (2016): 7.6

Bring It On, Ghost is also known under the name Hey Ghost, Let’s Fight. The show was based on a popular webtoon from 2007. The series got a good rating when it first debuted in South Korea earning a ranking of the 9th most-watched drama on cable. The show has a unique storyline when it comes to love and the afterlife.

Park Bong-pal (Ok Taec-yeon) has the ability to the dead and exorcises them for money in order to get a procedure to make his ability disappear. But at a haunted high school, he meets a feisty female ghost who died in a traffic accident. They become friends and partners in helping ghosts. A romance brews but they are unaware that there’s an evil ghost who is the reason behind both their fates.

6 Mystic Pop-Up Bar (2020): 8

The bar in Mystic Pop-Up Bar does much more than selling beer and soju. The storyline involves an outdoor drinking establishment with its employees having unique abilities and stories. The owner happens to be a woman cursed for the past 500 years to be in the Living Realm helping people and ghosts settle their grudges.

Alongside her is a part-time employee who was labeled an outcast for his ability to get people to confess their feelings by a mere touch. There’s also the woman’s former love interest who works as the manager and was once a police officer in the afterlife. Fans loved the shows heartwarming story as well as its comedic moments. Not to mention the epic soundtrack for each episode.

5 Black (2017): 8

The supernatural/fantasy show, Black has gotten some rave reviews for its use of the genre as well as incorporating the thrill of crime solving. This show will have viewers hooked as it’s dark, gritty, and full of turmoil as the main characters fall in love.

Black is a detective who becomes possessed by the grim reaper who is on the hunt for his fugitive partner. Along the way, he starts to uncover the truth of a series of murders that hinders his job as a reaper. He comes to meet a young woman with the ability to see death. Black finds himself falling in love and breaking every rule of Heaven.

The 2015 k-drama still holds up as being a show worth watching. Oh My Ghost had multiple storylines at play that will keep viewers watching. A lustful virgin ghost sees that the only way to the afterlife is by getting rid of her pesky problem. She finds the perfect host in a shy and timid assistant chef.

Now possessed by a lustful ghost, she catches the eye of her arrogant boss who she had a secret crush on. Beyond the romance and wooing, there’s a dark story unfolding. The reason behind the ghost’s death isn’t what people expected. Fans praised the show for its mix of genres from the supernatural, comedy, romance, and mystery.

3 A Korean Odyssey (2017): 8.1

A Korean Odyssey has everything a viewer is looking for from impeccable chemistry between the main stars to action and fantasy. The base of the show comes from a Chinese 16th-century novel titled Journey to the West. The show can be described as star-crossed fate.

Son Oh-gong (Sun Wukong) is the Monkey King who was imprisoned for his crimes in Heaven. He makes a wager with a young girl who has the ability to see ghosts and spirits. He promises to keep her safe whenever she calls his name, but ends up double-crossing her after being set free. Years later they remeet. Hoping to get into Heaven he finds himself in a dilemma as his golden ticket would put her in danger.

2 The King: Eternal Monarch (2020): 8.3

The King: Eternal Monarch has been a favorable K-drama from Netflix. The show starred notable Korean actors like Woo Do‑hwan as Jo Eun‑seob and Lee Min‑ho as Lee Gon. This show is more based in fantasy as it takes place in parallel worlds. As a child, the prince of the Kingdom of Corea witnessed his uncle murder his father. Years later, the now king discovers the gateway to a parallel world where his uncle fled.

Venturing to the parallel world, the king meets a female detective who is the key to uncovering the mystery of his traumatic childhood. Together, they try to stop his uncle’s plan of taking over both worlds. Fans found the show enthralling and even lost some beauty sleep binge-watching the show.

1 Arthdal Chronicles (2019): 8.4

This K-drama takes fantasy to a new level. Fans of the show have even called it one of the best ancient dramas that got them hooked from the very first scene. The show takes place in a mythical land called Arth. It focuses on three main characters but ties in their interactions with supporting characters and how their fate will determine the future of Arth.

The inhabitants of the ancient city of Arthdal are in a battle for power as they build a new society. Along the way, viewers see a bit of everything from drama, love interests, and some impeccable animation and visuals.
