When we look at the Bears’ current roster, there are positions already locked up. Positional battles won’t matter despite the fact that coaches have said everyone is on a clean slate. When it comes to NFL teams, talent is obviously important, but contracts also play a part. You are not going to sit your safety who is earning $15 million dollars this season unless he proves to be a liability. The Chicago Bears have 10 positions that I think are completely locked up already.

These 10 positions are locked up for the Chicago Bears in 2022 Quarterback

The quarterback position is completely locked up this year. The Chicago Bears are starting Justin Fields this year and he’s guaranteed to hold that spot unless a major injury occurs. Trevor Siemian is locked into the backup role and behind him is Nathan Peterman. Nothing is going to change this offseason unless the team adds a new third-string option and cuts Peterman.

Running Back

The Chicago Bears running back position is also locked up in my opinion. Many fans are in the belief that Khalil Herbert could push to start this year, but that’s not happening. David Montgomery is going to be the RB1 and Herbert will be the RB2. The good news for Herbert is that he should see more carries this year than in his rookie season. If Luke Getsy follows the model he saw in Green Bay, then we should expect to see around a 60/40 split.

Behind these two, Darrynton Evans is the favorite at RB3, followed by the rookie, Trestan Ebner. Although its own position, I’ll throw in that Khari Blasingame is locked in at fullback.
