10 Things That Make No Sense About Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Kimmy vs The Reverend

Fans of Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt may have been a little down after the series ended last year. Luckily, they were able to have one more fantastic glimpse at the show through the interactive special, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend.

It follows Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), who on the week of her wedding, tries to rescue another group of potential mole women. Overall, the special seemed to be a pretty great success. However, there were some parts that left fans confused. Therefore, here is a list of ten things that simply didn’t add up.

10 How Has Kimmy Never Seen The Book Before?

Jan the anthropomorphic backpack is perhaps Kimmy’s oldest friend and it has helped her through some of her toughest moments. Therefore, it was fitting that she was the catalyst to the special’s main story. While walking down the street, Jan complains that she is getting fat.

So, Kimmy digs around and miraculously finds a Choose Your Own Adventure book. How is it possible that Kimmy never saw an entire book in her bag? Jan was once one of Kimmy’s most important possessions. Therefore, although it was entertaining, it didn’t really make a lot of sense.

9 Kimmy Doesn’t Call The Police About The Other Women

Once Kimmy learns through the book that there could have been another girl in the bunker, she goes to Indiana to see the Reverend (Jon Hamm) who reveals that not only may there be another girl but that he may have had a whole other bunker.

Any sane person, after hearing that there are a bunch of women trapped somewhere, will immediately call the police. Yet, it never once crosses Kimmy’s mind and she goes to Virginia herself.

8 The Reverend’s Successful Escape

Speaking of the Reverend, how on earth did he escape prison? After he learns that Kimmy may be on her way to the bunker, he escapes from prison, and viewers can either choose for him to use his karate moves or to devise a sneaky plan.

However, both of those ways in no way make it possible to sneak out of prison. There are hundreds of guards and cameras to make it through, so simply escaping the visitor’s area won’t do.

7 The Mysteriously Appearing Gun

While looking for the Reverend, Titus (Tituss Burgess) and Kimmy end up at a gas station and are forced to take care of the owner’s baby. The baby appears and suddenly has a gun in her walker.

Now, babies can do some pretty crazy things but making guns appear from thin air seems difficult for even the most mischievous of toddlers.

6 Is Freddy Ready To Get Married?

In one of the funniest parts in the special, Kimmy’s fiancé Freddy (Daniel Radcliffe) accidentally kisses Lillian (Carol Kane) after she sang a sultry song about bananas. This leads him to realize that he doesn’t have any experience with relationships and viewers can either chose Lillian or his nanny to help him through it.

Yet, after talks with either woman, he seems pretty fine and ready to carry on with the wedding. However, anxieties like those don’t just disappear after one evening so, at the very least, he needed to have a conversation with Kimmy about it.

5 Why Did Titus Not Know Where The Movie Set Was?

In easily the most miraculous coincidence ever seen on TV, Titus’ movie happens to be filming in the exact part of West Virginia where he and Kimmy end up while chasing the Reverend. With incredible luck and a little help from the viewers, Titus accidentally shows up just in time for his scene and saves him and Jacqueline’s (Jane Krakowski) careers.

Yet, how did he not know where it was set. Admittedly, Titus isn’t really known for paying attention to important details. However, Jacqueline would have hounded him with the details and even got Kimmy on it too. Therefore, it is very unlikely that he was actually so clueless.

4 Titus’ Dirty Pants Make It Into The Movie

Throughout the special, Jacqueline pretends that Titus is hiding away in his trailer and she consistently blames the wardrobe department and a pair of camo pants become an important issue.

Yet, when he is found by one of the crew members in the woods, after crashing through a table, his pants are dirty and it is assumed that those were the same camo pants. Anyone can clearly see that it just has a bunch of dirt on it, so how was he not immediately caught out?

3 How Were The West Virginia Mole Women Still Alive?

Once viewers chose to spare the Reverend’s life, Kimmy finds the bunker with the four trapped women. She will open the door and they will emerge weirdly calm and seemingly physically fine.

Yet, it would have at least been five years since the Reverend has last seen them and given them any provisions. Even if they had enough food, it is still strange that they remained healthy in any way.

2 Xanthippe Officiating Kimmy And Freddy’s Wedding

There was a time when Xanthippe (Dylan Gelula) considered Kimmy to be one of the biggest dorks on the planet and consistently made fun of her. In the later season of the show, the two are seen building a sweet yet fragile friendship.

Normally, someone extremely close and important to you would officiate the wedding, yet Kimmy chooses Xanthippe over people like Lillian. Not only doesn’t it make sense, but it feels as if the writers couldn’t come up with a better way to have the character in the special, so they just randomly made her the officiate.

1 Why Was Kimmy’s Mom Not At Her Wedding?

The special ends with Kimmy and Freddy’s sweet and quirky wedding, surrounded by those that they love most. However, there is someone missing from that group, Kimmy’s mom.

At the end of season four, Kimmy and her mom, played by Lisa Kudrow, have a much better relationship. Yet, she is mysteriously absent from her daughter’s wedding.
