The recently released sci-fi movie The Tomorrow War has received mixed reviews while fans are split between those who enjoyed the movie and those who seemed to fully hate it. In an ongoing discussion with the former arguing in favor of the fun action scenes and the latter complaining about the plot holes, there have been multiple unpopular opinions in-between.

As revealed through Reddit, people have expressed all kinds of views, from those who liked the drama but hated the action, to the always-present conspiracy theorists who argued that the movie was conservative propaganda or promoting climate change.

10 Chris Pratt Was The Best Thing In The Movie

Despite The Tomorrow War’s fans being split into two sides with some liking the movie and others not, most agree that Chris Pratt’s performance was poor and he isn’t suitable as a dramatic actor.

Nevertheless, Reddit user devault83 claims that the only reason why they managed to enjoy this seemingly terrible movie with its poor quotes was Chris Pratt’s amazing acting who was the one to save the movie single-handedly. It’s certainly not a popular thought process.

9 Politically Conservative Movie

It is impossible to talk about unpopular opinions without having someone arguing for hidden conspiracies. Reddit user TranquiloSunrise argues that the movie is full of covert political meanings that favor the conservative party like the idea that vaccines come from the future and the mentioned waste of taxpayer money.

After these multiple hidden messages, it seemed impossible for the Reddit user to keep watching the movie.

8 The Movie Was Fun Despite Its Poor Story

Most viewers agreed that the story made little sense most of the time as it was full of plot holes. Nevertheless, as Reddit users elloue and Villad rock argue, a movie doesn’t need to have a great immersive story to be fun.

Yes, a great story helps, but sometimes, just like action games, people want to dig straight into the action without caring much about the story. It’s all about the shooting, the killing, and the adrenaline.

7 Extremely Underrated Movie

The Tomorrow War didn’t get the best reviews overall but according to Reddit user Jhausss, it deserved a 7/10 at worst, not a 3/10 as it was one of the best alien movies available. In any case, as long as it was fun to watch despite any plot holes, 3/10 is too harsh of criticism and the movie doesn’t deserve it.

Nevertheless, this was only an unpopular opinion, as most fans commented ironically that Jhausss perhaps watched the wrong movie.

6 Amazing And Emotional Movie

Most of the fans that enjoyed the movie, did so due to its enjoyable action scenes. However, according to Reddit user lechatsportif, the movie didn’t only feature Chris Pratt’s amazing action scenes, but also an emotional story that brought fans to tears, especially when Dan (Chris Pratt) met Muri (Yvonne Strahovski).

Nevertheless, this user wouldn’t have even seen it in the theaters as they felt it included multiple clichés.

5 Too Similar To Independence Day

Although the movie received multiple negative reviews, Reddit user fooZar thinks that it was an excellent movie. On top of that, they argue that what happened now with The Tomorrow War, is exactly what happened in the past with Independence Day, one of the best 4th of July movies.

The latter initially received negative reviews due to its poor dialogue and turned out to be a classic regardless, with this user expecting the same to happen with The Tomorrow War.

4 Better Than A Quiet Place

Although many fans have tried to defend The Tomorrow War by comparing it with other worse movies, Reddit user Roseday_32 believes that the negative reviews were only because people have their expectations too high regarding highly intelligent movies.

They argue that The Tomorrow War had little to no plotholes since everything at the end is explained while comparing it to A Quiet Place which was falsely interpreted as highly intelligent when it was dull and lacking in content.

3 Great Visuals, Amazing Sci-Fi, OK Drama

Most fans who enjoyed the movie would give it a 7/10 or equivalent as they realize some of the plot holes and why this movie could be seen as lacking in some sense.

Nevertheless, Reddit user lihkatahtmai rates it a solid 10/10 due to not only its visuals and action, but also due to the story and the drama created between father, daughter, and grandfather. Although they argue that the dialogue could be better, it isn’t enough to drop from 10/10.

2 Climate Change Propaganda

Conspiracy theorists are having their time with The Tomorrow War, especially Reddit user Sapmatic who considered it a bad movie solely due to being climate change propaganda.

In the future world, the aliens came up to the surface solely because the ice melted, and thus destroyed everything due to climate change. According to this Reddit user, the scriptwriter is simply trying to convince people that climate change is real, even if that is through the existence of aliens.

1 Felt Bad For Female Whitespike

One of the things that sci-fi fans liked was how the whitespikes were presented as aliens: scary, threatening, and extremely resilient, especially the female one.

Nevertheless, Reddit user JodieFosterFreeze argued that they actually felt sorry for the female whitespike queen when she was chained and tortured, even though that was the only reason to find a toxin that would eventually save the world.
