The Young Avengers are rumored to be a big part of Disey+, but should The Champions be the young superhero team representing the streaming service?

Disney+ is clearly assembling a number of young heroes, possibly for some kind of team up in the future. With characters like Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan making their debut very soon, it’s clear which two teams could be the future of the streaming service.

The Young Avengers and the Champions both have a claim to being the youthful team of Disney+, but there’s no telling which (if either) team will be brought to the small screen. Needless to say, there are pros and cons for each team.

10 Young Avengers: Classic Team

The Young Avengers are the more established of the two groups. In many ways, they could be considered to be a classic incarnation of the Avengers. The group has been around in the comics throughout many big events.

Whether it was the Civil War, the Siege, or perhaps even throughout the Skrull Invasion, the Young Avengers have been on the front line, giving a new meaning to the Earth’s mightiest heroes branding.

9 Champions: Modern Creation

The Champions are a far more modern creation, which may appeal to the higher-ups of Disney+ more. While the Young Avengers are tried and tested, the Champions represent a modern change.

There’s plenty of new stories that are fresh in fans’ minds, which could be applied well to an ongoing series, and there’s plenty of members of the group that are certainly worthy of being on a main Avengers team in the future.

8 Young Avengers: Existing Heroes

The Young Avengers already has some existing heroes in the MCU and are always partially based on heroes that have been featured throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Stature is already around, and Kate Bishop is soon to make her debut. The Captain America serum exists for Patriot to make an appearance, and Wiccan and Speed could be added thanks to Wanda’s own Disney+ show.

7 Champions: Future Of Disney+

The Champions perhaps represent the future much better for Disney+ though. Ms. Marvel will be getting a show of her own, demonstrating that the streaming service has a lot of faith in her.

This could also be a way to move the mutants into the MCU, with a young version of Cyclops joining the team, much like in the comics. Plus, with Ironheart heavily rumored for the platform, she also demonstrates a changing of the guard for the heroes of Earth.

6 Young Avengers: New Territory

There have been a few different Avengers teams in the MCU. There’s been a core team of six, a New Avengers, and there’s been a Secret Avengers, made up of Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Falcon, and Black Widow.

The teams aren’t really given these distinctions on screen, so setting up a genuinely new Avengers, known as the Young Avengers, would be brand new territory for the MCU to expand with.

5 Champions: The Next Era

The Champions are representing a brand new era in Marvel comics, and it may be that this tone can be brought over to the cinematic side of the franchise.

The heroes that are featured on the team, such as Mile Morales and Vivian, demonstrating a real shift happening into a more inclusive, expansive, and varied roster of characters, which will populate the universe for years to come.

4 Young Avengers: Great Designs

The Young Avengers have some pretty timeless designs. The characters have endured for so long in part due to brilliant writing, but also because of such striking creative choices.

The team would look absolutely excellent on screen, and their power sets mash together extremely well. Visually speaking, this is perfect for a big streaming service like Disney+.

3 Champions: Compelling Characteristics

The characters in the Champions are perhaps even more complex. The team genuinely feels like a group of youths who are in over their heads.

They struggle with their dreams of super-heroics versus the reality of it, and each one has a number of personal struggles, which would certainly contribute to an interesting ongoing drama.

2 Young Avengers: Complex Story Lines

The Young Avengers have seen a number of complex storylines over the years and actually fit into crossover events extremely well. It’s previously been mentioned how they had to work in secret during the registration act.

They also had to operate throughout Norman Osborn’s dark reign and fought against the Skrulls. Many of these stories seem to be on the horizon for the MCU, and the Young Avengers can play a large role in each of them.

1 Champions: Ongoing Narrative

There’s a huge story currently happening the comics which directly affects the Champions. There’s an age restriction on superhero work, which means they are no longer allowed to operate.

This kind of story would be excellent for the MCU in the future, especially as the Earth now looks back to the previous Sokovia Accords and what can be improved about them.
