90 Day Fiancé Couples Who Made The Right Choice To Get Divorced

The success rate of most 90 Day Fiancé couples is next to nothing amidst all the controversies and scandals most cast members create on the TLC show. So far, there have been sixteen spin-offs of the flagship 90 Day Fiancé show since its launch in 2014, yielding a mix of iconic and forgettable pairs. While season one of 90 Day Fiancé gave fans couples that are still together, season eight was full of distress. However, there have been marriages that took place, only to end in miserable divorces, many of which fans had long seen coming.

The ongoing season six of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? is focusing a lot on divorce. After Angela Deem chose weight loss surgery over having a baby, her Nigerian husband, Michael, confessed to the camera that he would consider divorce if Angela can’t give him a child. Meanwhile, Kalani Faagata is hell-bent on getting a divorce from Asuelu Pulaa, who sees it as not even the last resort. Tiffany Franco has also questioned her future with Ronald Smith, even meeting a divorce lawyer without him knowing. But while these 90 Day Fiancé duos may go from the frying pan into the fire, some of their co-stars are surprisingly in a better place after their splits. Here are a few 90 Day Fiancé pairs that fans have found happiness by going their separate ways.

Ashley Martson & Jay Smith

90 Day Fiancé Couples Who Made The Right Choice To Get Divorced

Season six couple Ashley and Jay met in a nightclub when she was in her ex’s native Jamaica for a wedding. Tattoo artist Jay then spotted her on social media and, six months later, Ashley, 34, was engaged to the 23-year-old man. However, the 90 Day Fiancé couple was just eight months into their marriage when Ashley first filed for divorce, only to withdraw the paperwork two weeks later. Shen then filed a second time three months later over cheating claims. While Jay and Ashley tried making the relationship work, the third time was the charm when, in March 2021, their “death sentence” was over with the finalization of the divorce. Ashley is now living her best single life, while Jay has also found himself a new partner in Kayla O’Brien.

Deavan Clegg & Jihoon Lee

90 Day Fiancé Couples Who Made The Right Choice To Get Divorced

The Korean man Jihoon and Utah-native Deavan made a beautiful pair during their 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season one debut. After having met on a dating app, Jihoon, 31, flew to the US to see Deavan, 24, only for the couple to get pregnant on their first date. The season saw Deavan’s dissatisfaction about Jihoon’s lack of employment. During season two, when Deavan finally moved to South Korea for good, the couple saw their worst days. Deavan and Jihoon confirmed they had split in August 2020, after which she also introduced her new boyfriend, Topher Park, on Instagram. Deavan is said to have filed for divorce in September and the exes are now entangled in a messy custody battle over baby Taeyang. While fans wish for Jihoon to be able to see his son, this 90 Day Fiancé couple does seem happier having gone their separate ways. Jihoon got a stunning plastic surgery makeover, and Deavan is seemingly content with Topher.

Anfisa Arkhipchenko & Jorge Nava

It was the end of the story for Jorge and Russian girl Anfisa when the California native, 31, filed for divorce in August 2020, shortly after celebrating their third wedding anniversary. Three months before officially calling it quits, Jorge was released from prison after serving almost two years due to his arrest for marijuana possession. The 90 Day Fiancé season four couple met on Facebook before Anfisa, 25, moved to America to have one of the most toxic relationships of the franchise.

While chances of Jorge and Anfisa’s marriage lasting looked slim, it wasn’t until Jorge slimmed down from 318 pounds to 185 pounds that he felt his wife became jealous and ready to leave him. Since their divorce, both have tried throwing shade at each other, but Jorge recently revealed he has no bad feelings towards Anfisa, who is now a successful influencer and personal coach. Jorge, too, is a new dad to baby Zara with his partner, Rhoda Blua. He feels whatever he went through with Anfisa led him to his current state of happiness.

Lisa ‘Babygirl’ Hamme & Usman ‘Sojaboy’ Umar

90 Day Fiancé Couples Who Made The Right Choice To Get Divorced

The controversial Lisa of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season three, recently said “I do” to her new husband, Tracey, after initiating a divorce from Nigerian ex Usman. After being estranged for more than six months, Usman confirmed he sent divorce papers to Lisa in December 2020. The rapper, 30, proposed to Lisa, 53, from Pennsylvania and asked her to marry him in Nigeria without ever meeting in person. Lisa and Usman did walk down the aisle in season four, but broke up before the finale while both claiming they were duped by the other. While Lisa is technically still considered to be married to Usman in his country, she claims it’s not legal in the United States, which allowed her to tie the knot with Tracey in April 2021. Meanwhile, “I Love You” singer Sojaboy, who was spotted on a billboard in Times Square last week, is launching his full album soon.

Larissa Dos Santos Lima & Colt Johnson

An unlikely fan-favorite on 90 Day Fiancé spin-off, 90 Day: The Single Life, Colt shocked fans after announcing his secret wedding to a long-time friend-with-benefits Vanessa Guerra on the season Tell-All. The couple eloped a month ago while on a road trip without even telling mother Debbie. Surprisingly, Larissa has no grudges against her ex-husband, who once threatened to deport her, or Vanessa, who she claimed he was talking to while they were still married. Colt filed for divorce from Larissa in January 2019 just days after her third arrest for domestic battery following a short-lived marriage of seven months. “I know our marriage didn’t last long but I believe this one will last forever,” wrote the Brazilian beauty, who has also moved on from boyfriend Eric Nichols as she is adjusting to the apparently lucrative life as an adult content creator in Colorado Springs.
