A Castle for Christmas stars an outstanding group of actors, and here is every one of them. Directed by Mary Lambert, A Castle for Christmas is just the latest among Netflix’s original Christmas offerings. Mostly set in Edinburgh, A Castle for Christmas follows best-selling author Sophie Brown as she escapes the scandal of her latest release by traveling to her father’s hometown. As she reconnects with her roots, she befriends and falls in love with the locals — who are played by both veterans and newcomers. Upon A Castle for Christmas’ release on Netflix, it has been met with generally mixed reviews, from both critics and audiences. Some point out the predictability of the plot, but the film being billed as a holiday rom-com is already in itself a giveaway. Also, viewers, especially those from Scotland, have disagreed with the portrayal of their people, complaining that the accents and their country’s geography showcased in the film are all over the place.

Brooke Shields As Sophie Brown
Sophie Brown is the world-famous author of the Emma Gale series. Her popularity sees a decline following a public backlash over her latest novel, so she decides to take a break and write her next book in Scotland. Sophie is played by Golden Globe nominee Brooke Shields, who rose to prominence as a child model and actress. Shields’ decades-long career is marked by her roles on Endless Love, Suddenly Susan, Freeway, Lipstick Jungle, and Jane the Virgin.
Cary Elwes As Myles Dunbar
Myles Dunbar is the 12th Duke of Dunbar, who inherited a castle close to foreclosure and a mountain of debt. Despite his initial protests, he sells his castle to Sophie. He is portrayed by Cary Elwes, who is best known for his leading roles as Westley in The Princess Bride and Dr. Lawrence Gordon in the Saw series. He has also appeared in films like Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Glory, The Jungle Book, Shadow of the Vampire, Ella Enchanted, and A Christmas Carol. Most recently, he played Mayor Larry Kline on Stranger Things.
Lee Ross As Thomas
Thomas is the tour guide and long-time caretaker of Dun Dunbar castle. Aside from being Myles’ voice of reason, he also pursues Maisie, a local resident. He is played by Lee Ross, whose recent acting parts include Barnes in the Titanic miniseries, Ronnie in White Gold, and Deputy Director Richard Cockridge in Bulletproof. Ross also lent his talent in the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which originally had an alternate ending.
Andi Osho As Maisie
An avid fan of the Emma Gale series, Maisie is the receptionist at The Castle Inn, where Sophie initially checks in. She also considers rekindling her relationship with Thomas. Maisie is portrayed by British comedian Andi Osho, known for her parts in National Treasure: Kiri, Curfew, I May Destroy You, and Line of Duty. Osho will be seen next on the shows Stay Close and The Sandman.
A Castle for Christmas Supporting Cast & Characters
Tina Gray as Helen – Helen is a knitter at The Castle Inn. She confirms Sophie’s Scottish roots by sharing that she went to school with the latter’s father. She is played by Tina Gray, who has appeared in The Last Kingdom and Doctors and also joined the star-studded cast of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Eilidh Loan as Rhona – Another member of the knitters, Rhona is a young pastry chef who also loves the Emma Gale books. She is portrayed by Eilidh Loan, who debuted in England’s Forgotten Queen: The Life and Death of Lady Jane Grey.
Stephen Oswald as Angus – Angus joins the knitting club after his husband, who was an original member, passed away. He is played by Stephen Oswald, who had roles in Meat Is Murder, The Knock, and The Mother the Son the Rat and the Gun.
Vanessa Grasse as Lexi – Lexi is Sophie’s daughter who initially plans to attend her father’s wedding over the holidays. She is portrayed by Vanessa Grasse, known for Leatherface, Astral, Bulletproof, and Agatha and the Midnight Murders.
Drew Barrymore as Herself – Drew Barrymore hosts her self-titled show. In A Castle for Christmas, she interviews Sophie about her book’s ending, causing the author to have a meltdown on live television. A critically-acclaimed actress, Barrymore most notably appeared in Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and the rom-coms 50 First Dates and Blended.
