Ubisoft has just unveiled the newest DLC expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, promising over 35 hours of additional content featuring the gods of Norse mythology. Recent leaks suggested that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be getting a massive new story campaign subtitled “Dawn Of Ragnarök,” one that insiders have compared to Sony’s critically-acclaimed God Of War reboot from 2018.

Released last November and set between the years of 872 and 878 AD, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla told the story of Eivor Varinsdottir, a customizable Viking warrior tasked with building a new settlement for their clan in what is now known as the British Isles. Two major story DLC expansions have been released for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla so far: Wrath Of The Druids, which pitted Eivor against a cult known as the Children of Danu in 879 AD Ireland, and The Siege Of Paris, which was based on the historical Viking raid against French ruler Charles the Fat. Smaller updates added in an educational Discovery Tour mode and additional dungeons known as Tombs Of The Fallen, and it seems like it won’t be long before Ubisoft adds even more story content to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – such as a crossover with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that will see Eivor cross paths with the Greek heroine Kassandra.

A recent blog post on PlayStation.com outlines Ubisoft’s upcoming two-year roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. In addition to the previously revealed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey crossover, this roadmap confirms that Dawn Of Ragnarök will indeed launch in March. This new story will put players in the role of the Nordic God Odin, who must protect the kingdom of Asgard from the combined forces of Jotunheim’s frost giants and the demonic forces of Muspelheim – as led by Odin’s archnemesis, the fiery Surtr. Ubisoft states that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn Of Ragnarök will contain roughly 35 hours of gameplay across a new map that is roughly one-third the size of the main game’s England. Odin’s journey in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn Of Ragnarök will also task him with rescuing his son Balder from Surtr’s forces, as well as recruiting the Dwarves of Svartleheim to help him save the Nine Realms of Asgard from oblivion. In addition to Assassin’s Creed’s traditional stealth-based gameplay and brutal combat, Odin will be able to unlock a variety of supernatural powers befitting the Allfather of Nordic Myth. These include the ability to transform into a crow to sneak up on enemies for a quick kill and being able to harness the powers of foes he’s conquered in battle. Ubisoft Sofia Producer Mariana Gosteva explains that these skills will offer players new opportunities to strategize and experiment with Odin’s powers, as well as add a new layer of fun to the usual Assassin’s Creed gameplay.

So far, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been met with positive reviews from fans and critics, even becoming one of the highest-selling titles in the franchise’s history. The upcoming Dawn Of Ragnarök will likely build upon that success, as while Eivor has glimpsed into their ancestor Odin’s memories during Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, it seems like Dawn Of Ragnarök will finally put players into the role of the Allfather himself.
