Storm Large made a memorable appearance on America’s Got Talent, but that wasn’t the first time the pink-haired soloist performed on television. Since her AGT audition debuted on YouTube, she’s gathered over two million views and some of those viewers may recognize her from another talent show called Rock Star: Supernova. Though she is now one of the faces of the USA’s biggest talent show, fans want to know more about her time on the early 2000s competition series.

Storm brought the America’s Got Talent judges to their feet with her rendition of “Under My Skin,” a song that the middle-aged judges were all familiar with. While the song may be a classical jazz melody by the legendary Frank Sinatra, Storm, as Howie Mandel said, “made it her own,” by transforming it into a rock ballad. After the judges showered her with compliments, they all said “yes”, and she was sent on to the next round.

Rock Star: Supernova sought to find the next lead vocalist of a band with the titular name. The show was hosted by Dave Navarro (who would later present Ink Master) and television personality Brooke Burke. 15 contestants competed each season. Storm was one of them and sang hits like “Heroes” by David Bowie and “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana. She even stage-dived after she sang “Anything, Anything” by Dramarama. Storm didn’t receive the Golden Buzzer like Jimmie Herod, so it’s hard to say how far she will make it in the America’s Got Talent competition, though her newly-formed fanbase seems to be rooting for her. Right now, her fate on this show is still up in the air. Her stint on Rock Star: Supernova ended before she could take the crown. Just before the series finale, she was eliminated after she performed Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.” Ultimately, Lukas Rossi won.

She might not have won, but her career certainly did not end there. After she rose to prominence as a talented rock band singer wannabe, she was able to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Contender. She also sang the national anthem at a Portland Trail Blazers game. She was able to record a single called “Ladylike” but she was unable to perform it in the end. However, she was invited to open up for Supernova during a 2007 tour.

Even though she didn’t win, Rock Star: Supernova gave Storm a name. While America’s Got Talent may have introduced her to some fans, she definitely had some who were there from the start. The AGT competition is still ongoing and Storm may make it far, especially after getting the appreciation of a judge as stern as the sometimes savage Simon Cowell.
