Andrew Garfield joins the MCU in new artwork that features him as part of the Fantastic Four in the role of Human Torch. Garfield is no stranger to the Marvel Universe. The actor played Spider-Man in the second set of films about the web slinger. His Amazing Spider-Man films failed to make as big of an impact as Sony had hoped, leading them to reboot the franchise after two films. Tom Holland now stars in the role of Spider-Man after being introduced to the larger MCU in a partnership between Disney and Sony.

The Fantastic Four has had previous iterations, as well, with a total of three films being made about the group. The original two films came out in 2005 and 2007 and starred Chris Evans as the Human Torch before his major role as Captain America. A third, separate Fantastic Four film came out in 2015 with disastrous results. Now that Disney owns the full rights to the heroes they are sure to be introduced into the interconnected cinematic universe that Marvel has created.

In a picture posted by ultraraw26 to Instagram, Garfield is seen in the role of Human Torch. He is featured in the Fantastic Four uniform, covered in flames. The flames rise up his body before engulfing half of his face in cool effect similar to portrayals we’ve seen in the past from Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan. The artist, Yadvender Singh Rana, posted a similar picture featuring John Krasinski as Reed Richards AKA Mr. Fantastic.

Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of the Amazing spiderman left a mark in the superhero genre. For me, he was one of the best spiderman, especially in his first movie from 2012. MCU has been known as the place of second chances. Many actors who have appeared in superhero flicks that got bombed before, succeeded on their respective MCU entry, as a hero, like Chris Evans, or as a villain, like Michael B. Jordan. Now I’m not saying that Andrew’s spiderman was a failed version. But the 2nd one, yeah you have to admit it wasn’t that Good. That being said, if you keep the idea of a spiderverse aside for a minute, and think clearly, Andrew can play a really good role of the Human torch in the MCU’s version of Fantastic 4. I’ve had people tell me about so many other great actors for the role, but for me, Andrew is the best pick for it. . #andrewgardfield #humantorch #fantasticfour #marvel #marvelcomics #marvelcinematicuniverse #mcu #avengers

While the previous Fantastic Four films featured some pretty famous faces, they failed to take off in the way that 20th Century Fox hoped. Now that Disney owns the rights to the characters, fans expect their inclusion in the franchise imminently. While Marvel has yet to confirm when and how the Fantastic Four will enter the MCU, hype continues to grow. Kevin Feige and co. plan stories years in advance, so someone surely knows how the team will enter the MCU, but with the delays of the Marvel slate continuing, the wait seems to be getting longer and longer as to when fans will find out. Regardless, this has not stopped fans like Rana speculating just who exactly will be taking over the iconic roles.

Its possible we could see Garfield in the MCU, either in a new role or reprising his role as Spider-Man. While his tenure as the hero his ended, the new films featuring Holland have increasingly featured characters from iterations past. JK Simmons recently appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home, reprising his role from the Raimi trilogy as J. Jonah Jameson. Additionally, it was recently announced that Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro in Holland’s upcoming third film in his series. Whatever crossovers happen, Garfield’s presence in the Marvel universe has been cemented, so whether or not he joins the MCU again in the Fantastic Four remains to be seen.
