Animal Crossing Island Transformed Into Iconic Breath Of the Wild Location

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has brought one of their favorite games into the popular Nintendo Switch title by recreating their own version of Kakariko Village from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on their island. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released way back in 2017 as a Switch launch title and is not only regarded as one of the best games in the series, but also as one of the best-selling on the platform.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows players to customize their islands, houses, and characters quite extensively. Many players have made video game crossovers, including one that designed their room to look like something out of Red Dead Redemption 2. Another fan created custom character outfits for every character in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become so popular that even celebrities like Danny Trejo recently held a virtual tour of his own Animal Crossing island, a running segment on a talk show that takes place entirely within the game.

The Kakariko Village recreation in Animal Crossing: New Horizons was made by Reddit user u/theskullcandiii (who also goes by kKAIslider on Twitter and Instagram), who posted their work on the Animal Crossing subreddit. The location featured in the work is impressively detailed, complete with mini waterfalls, stone lanterns, wood fences, stone tablets, and more. Unlike other incarnations of Kakariko Village, the one in Breath of the Wild features an aesthetic that’s clearly inspired by ancient Japanese architecture and culture (though it of course didn’t give up its iconic, unruly chickens).

Looking deeper into their other work, u/theskullcandiii has also made a location inspired by the Fairy Fountain from The Legend of Zelda. While they don’t state which specific Fairy Fountain it was inspired from, whether it’s also from Breath of the Wild or from another Legend of Zelda game, the amount of detail put into it is still jaw-dropping. According to the creator, they plan to create even incorporate even more areas inspired by The Legend of Zelda series locations.

It’s always impressive to see the different creations Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans have made in the game. The amount of options the game offers gives fans a lot of creative freedom to really play around to their heart’s content. The lighthearted and casual nature of the game also makes it incredibly accessible to a lot of people. It’s probably why the game has quickly become the single most successful games on the Switch, with over 13 million copies sold so far, outpacing even the likes of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
