Animal Crossing Who Is Pavé (& What Is The Festivale Event)

Spring may be ushered in by a familiar face this year in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Pavé the peacock was teased for a late-January arrival in New Horizons, potentially indicating the return of a previous Animal Crossing event. Pavé was a staple of the spring season in both City Folk and New Leaf. The return of this flamboyant bird could mean the Festivale event is on its way to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Introduced for the first time in Animal Crossing: City Folk, Festivale is an event that appears to be based on Mardi Gras and Carnival, as it falls the day before the real-world holidays. Pavé was the host in City Folk as well as New Leaf, offering players furniture and items in exchange for event currency and spreading excitement about the colorful holiday. If Festivale happens this year in New Horizons, it may be happening on February 15 to follow the pattern of past games.

Festivale was handled differently in both games it previously appeared in. In City Folk, players focused on earning candy as an event currency by playing games with the villagers around town. There were a number of different games players could be challenged to complete, like playing Rock, Paper, Scissors and guessing which hand a villager was holding candy in, according to Fandom’s Animal Crossing Wiki. Players could then trade the candy in to Pavé to receive event-themed furniture.

Pavé Could Bring Festivale To Animal Crossing: New Horizons In February

Festivale was a little different in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, where players were tasked with catching colored feathers from the sky with a net, much like the Maple and Cherry Blossom events in New Horizons. If they turned these feathers in to Pavé, it would allow them to receive the event furniture, as well as getting to see Pavé perform a special dance. Villagers also wore feathered headdresses during the event to give the town a festive feel. While players could still engage in games with villagers, the number of available games was reduced from what players could do in City Folk.

Currently, nothing has been formally announced for what players will see upon Pavé’s arrival in New Horizons. However, if the plucky peacock is coming to be the host of Festivale again, it can be assumed that there will be a colorful day of activities in the near future for fans. Changes could be made to Festivale to expand the previously included event games and collection tasks, as well as the potential addition of interesting new outfits and the chance to purchase or craft Festivale-themed decorations and DIY recipes. Festivale could bring a fun splash of color to Animal Crossing: New Horizons this February as fans get ready to launch into the fishing, crafting and events of warmer months to come.
