Arrowverse 10 Potential Spinoff Series From Arrows Season Finale

Although next year’s eighth season is scheduled to mark the end of Arrow, Season 7 concluded in a way that truly felt like a series finale. The long-running CW show brought together many fan-favorite characters from the past to close out this season. In the case of Star City’s most exciting couple, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), were given sendoffs that could theoretically be the end of their stories. That’s especially true when you consider it was officially the end for Rickards.

Nobody knows how the final season will play out, but one thing is clear: The Arrowverse continues to grow on the CW Network. This fall; the Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl will be joined by Batgirl. While Arrow will be over, the show did drop some hints and leave plenty of room for potential spin-offs. Here, we rank ten of those possibilities.

10 The Monitor

This one is a stretch, but hear us out. Mar Novu, better known as The Monitor, is something of a villain. He’s appeared across the Arrowverse to test various Earths for an impending crisis. Oliver made a deal with Novu to save Supergirl and Flash during the most recent crossover episodes.

The deal meant that Oliver would have to join Novu when the crisis arrived. At the end of the Arrow finale, Novu returned to gather Oliver for it. This came with the knowledge that Oliver will sacrifice himself and his death during the battle is inevitable. Since Novu has been on all the Arrowverse shows, his own spin-off where we see his adventures watching various heroes across multiple Earths could make for compelling episodic television.

9 Speedy

This is another longshot. Willa Holland (Thea Queen) left Arrow during its sixth season and there hasn’t been any word of a return. She didn’t even appear in the recent finale and her status is up in the air. However, ex-boyfriend Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) did show up and last time we left, the characters were on adventures together.

Thea, also known as Speedy, broke away from Team Arrow to travel with Harper and Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) to destroy the remaining Lazarus Pits that Nyssa’s father, Ra’s, left behind. This season, Harper mentioned that they had succeeded but kept finding more. A spin-off detailing some of these events doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

8 Wild Dog

Season 5 saw the introduction of a bunch of new characters to the world of Arrow. One of them was Rene Ramirez. This former Navy SEAL was brought on to be part of a team meant to help Oliver Queen. Oliver initially rejected these helpful vigilantes but eventually made them official team members.

Ramirez would be an interesting choice for a spin-off. He doesn’t exactly have any adventures lined up through the season finale, but he’s a character with enough depth to carry a show. The story surrounding his daughter when he first joined the show was very emotional. That kind of content may produce some entertaining television.

7 Birds Of Prey

There’s only one thing that is honestly holding this back from being a real show. That’s the fact that we’re getting a film of the same name soon. While Harley Quinn is set to be the star, she’s not exactly a known member of the team in the comics.

Arrow once had an episode named after the group and it featured Laurel Lance’s Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), Sara Lance’s White Canary (Caity Lotz), and Helena Bertinelli’s Huntress (Jessica De Gouw). The season finale brought back Laurel Lance as the Black Siren. Pairing her up with the new Black Canary (Juliana Harkavy) and maybe Batgirl or even a newly introduced Power Girl could be fun.

6 Spartan

John Diggle (David Ramsey) has been a staple of the Arrowverse since the very first episode. His bond with Oliver Queen is unbreakable. It gives him a sense of credibility that characters lacked by subsequently introduced characters. Not only has he taken over as the Green Arrow in the past, but he’s grown into his own hero called Spartan.

There are a lot of stories to tell with Diggle. He often works with A.R.G.U.S. and has a family dynamic that adds serious stakes to any situation. He’s also one of the few characters created for the TV series and not pulled from the comics. The CW might want to keep its original creation around.

5 Emiko

One of the most important happenings in Season 7 of Arrow was the arrival of Emiko Queen (Sea Shimooka). She started as the Green Arrow and took over while Oliver was in prison. It was eventually revealed that she is the daughter of Robert Queen, making her the half-sister of Oliver.

We find out that she’s the leader of an underground organization called the Ninth Circle, but they ultimately kill her. Things could always be done to bring her back to life on a show like this. However, there’s a ton of backstory for the character that has yet to be explored. There’s enough to fill up a few seasons.

4 Suicide Squad

Similar to Birds of Prey, the chances of this happening aren’t high because Suicide Squad 2 is a movie on the horizon. However, we’ve had a Flash in the films and on TV, so it’s possible. The season finale of Arrow gave us a potential tease at what this could look like.

Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) supposedly died during a Suicide Squad mission but show up during the seventh season. He eventually helps Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow in the fight against the Ninth Circle in the finale. His goodbye with Diggle left the door open for a spin-off. Arrow has tackled this group in the past and there are plenty of characters who could fit right in if this happens.

3 Team Arrow

What do you do when your main hero leaves the show? You go with a team dynamic. This is something that the Arrow writers have a history with. Since Season 5, they’ve introduced more and more people to work alongside Oliver Queen. Team Arrow is already a thing.

It’s so much of a thing that turning it into a series won’t be that difficult. Season 8 can act as a way to figure out how to make this work. Find out which elements fit best with each other and make that into a show. Enough characters are established that an audience will follow them.

2 Arsenal

First arriving in the middle of Season 1, Roy Harper remains one of the most popular characters in Arrow history. His romance with Thea Queen is a driving force in early seasons and his rise to a vigilante sidekick of Oliver’s is one of the best arcs the show has ever crafted.

Roy ultimately became Arsenal but left the show on more than one occasion. He returned in the Season 7 finale and revealed that he died, only to get revived in a Lazarus Pit. That usually comes with side effects. We also see him in a flashforward to 2040, following time on the island of Lian Yu. There’s a lot of stuff to fill in for Arsenal and Haynes is popular enough to lead his own series.

1 Star City 2040

The most likely spin-off involves the future. Fans have been clamoring for it and the rumors are already swirling. An episode in Season 7 focuses on this world, where the now adult children of Oliver go on a dangerous mission. Mia Smoak/Blackstar (Katherine McNamara) and William Clayton (Ben Lewis) are the perfect kind of characters to take over.

The futuristic concept is a great way to separate this from Arrow, while also remaining true to the core of the series. The inclusion of characters like Roy Harper and Rene Ramirez’s daughter Zoe keeps it tied to the original. And when it comes to the impact of potential crossovers, there’s always the time-traveling team of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
