Cats is one of the most popular musicals of all time. While the movie didn’t necessarily hit the levels of quality that people had hoped for, it was still great to see those characters and songs brought to life on the big screen. Because all of the characters are cats, the personalities of each one have to be really over the top to convey who they are.

Every character has a really distinct personality and a clear goal as to why they want to reach the Heaviside Layer and that makes for a really fun story. The clear character traits are tons of fun and it gives audiences different characters to get behind and believe in. But which of these feline friends would you be most like?

12 Aries – Bustopher Jones

Bustopher Jones is one of the funniest characters within the musical, and he is someone who is full of himself. He believes he’s pretty much perfect. He’s full of life and character and has no problems in arguing with the other cats, letting them know exactly how he feels.

He is quite caring deep down, but he’s someone who is full of sass and that is showcased very heavily, especially through James Corden’s performance within the movie, which creates a lot of humor.

11 Taurus – Victoria

Victoria is a fantastic character who is one of the most aesthetically pleasing and classy cats. She is quite quiet and reserved, taking in everything that happens throughout the story. That is why she’s a perfect Taurus as they tend to be very observant people.

While most characters in this musical are over the top, loud and very much happy to show-off, that’s not the case with Victoria. She’s happy watching along and her reserved nature makes her someone that audiences enjoy watching.

10 Gemini – Jennyanydots

A Gemini is never short on confidence, mainly because they have fantastic communication skills. Those who are in this zodiac sign are all about conversation and they are brilliant with using that to get what they want, which is certainly how Jennyanydots operates.

She’s one of the most confident characters within the musical, having tons of energy and that is shown through her singing and dancing. She also has plenty to say and that makes her a strong Gemini.

9 Cancer – Grizabella

The entire musical is all based around Grizabella, her low feelings of self-worth despite being incredibly talented make her a really compelling lead role. She might not be the best-looking cat and may lack in confidence, but deep down she has incredible talent and a kind heart.

Throughout the musical, he’s shown to be a very sensitive character and that is displayed by her emotional song, “Memory” which is the highlight of the entire movie, and is also what makes her a great Cancer zodiac.

8 Leo – Skimbleshanks

Skimbleshanks has one of the most fun songs throughout the entire musical and is a real ball of energy when he joins the musical. He’s the cat that works on the trains and his confidence as a leader in that situation with everyone else happily following makes him a great Leo.

On top of that, he works arguably the most dangerous roles out of all the cats, which demands a lot of bravery, another common trait that a Leo tends to possess.

7 Virgo – Growltiger

While Growltiger isn’t one of the biggest characters in the musical, he is someone who shows his aggression and villainous tendencies. He’s a character that has absolutely no forgiveness with the cats he is given to deal with, and that suits a Virgo.

People in this zodiac aren’t easily taken for fools. They won’t take any rubbish from anyone and that is very much the way that Growltiger operates, being incredibly angry and honest with his thoughts throughout the musical.

6 Libra – Old Deuteronomy

Old Deuteronomy is one of the most important characters within Cats, as this is the character that decides who gets to go to the Heaviside Layer. In the musical, this cat is traditionally a man, but in the film that was switched to a woman, but either way, the character is an ideal Libra.

People in this type are often all about being fair, not wanting to cause arguments or fallout. That is why Old Deuteronomy tries to give everybody an equal opportunity at proving themselves and why they should head to the Heaviside Layer.

5 Scorpio – Mr. Mistoffelees

Mr. Mistoffelees is an incredible character that really is very popular within the musical. He’s able to produce magic and that is what makes him such a fun character. However, even though he’s got the talent, he doesn’t have the self-belief or the bravery to work utilise it.

That lack of bravery is something common within a Scorpio, and it does really making Mr. Mistoffelees endearing. Plus, his big moment where he finally showcases his abilities is an even bigger pay-off.

4 Sagittarius – Mungojerrie/Rumpleteazer

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer really do com as a pair within this musical, doing absolutely everything together. They are incredibly mischievous and that is why they’re perfect in the Sagitarrius zodiac.

They’re unpredictable and hard to work out, often switching around to confuse others. They’re very fun as characters within the musical though, causing nothing but mischief throughout.

3 Capricorn – Gus

Gus isn’t the flashiest of characters, and he is one of the older cats in the musical, but he is also one of the sweetest and most considerate characters. He is someone who has been performing theatre shows throughout his life and that’s what makes him a Capricorn.

People in this zodiac are known for being incredibly hardworking, and out of everyone in this musical, that suits Gus the most. He is persistent with trying to be a big star, and while he’s humble enough to admit he’s not the greatest or most confident, that doesn’t slow his work ethic.

2 Aquarius – Macavity

Macavity is the true villain of Cats, mainly because he is one that is willing to do absolutely anything to be the cat selected to go to the Heaviside Layer. Unlike the rest of the cats, he doesn’t play by the rules that are set, and instead, he tries to take everyone else away in order for him to be the only cat left.

The fact he doesn’t play by the rules makes him the ideal Aquarius, as characters within this zodiac often act out in their own independent manner, not following along with what the typical normal behavior is.

1 Pisces – Rum Tum Tugger

Rum Tum Tugger is perhaps the most popular of all the cats, especially with the females. He’s over the top and he’s quite happy to sing to the beat of his own drum. Like many Pisces, he is quite impractical and just goes along doing his own thing.

He’s one cat that doesn’t seem overly bothered about getting to the Heaviside Layer and instead is just all about having a good time. That is why he’s so popular though as he’s the cat that brings all the fun and joy to the musical.
