Fan reaction to the end of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was mixed, but how does each individual character’s arc rate overall?

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina recently released it’s fourth and final season on Netflix, and it’s safe to say that fans were not thrilled with the way that things wrapped up. While the story itself did come to a complete conclusion, it wasn’t the result that many fans wanted.
But while the story at large came to it’s end, each individual character had their own personal arc that was either concluded or seemingly left hanging as well. So with that in mind, how do all of the character arcs on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina rank in terms of quality and fan satisfaction?
10 Nick Scratch
In terms of disappointing character arcs, it would be pretty tough to beat Nick Scratch. While his romance with Sabrina was epic, it also became the defining factor of Nick as a person.
Using himself as a human prison for Lucifer seemed to prove that well enough, but then at the very end of the series it was revealed that Nick likely died by suicide just so he could be with Sabrina in the afterlife, which is an exceptionally uncomfortable and unappealing end to his character.
9 Sabrina Spellman
The end of Part 4 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina makes it very clear that the show wasn’t meant to end where it did. But given that that’s the final ending, it’s safe to say that the conclusion of Sabrina Spellman’s character was incredibly disappointing.
Despite the fact that it made no sense whatsoever, Sabrina died and didn’t come back to life, making the life of the devil’s daughter surprisingly short and uninfluential.
8 Lilith
In a series that was rife with badass female characters, Lilith was one of the coolest and most intimidating. However, unfortunately her character arc never got out from under the thumb of Lucifer Morningstar.
Her obsession with her former master never seemed to end, and although she did a lot to overthrow and undermine him, she never seemed to truly escape him. She won the throne in the end, but it would have been nice to see a bit of her characterization outside of her relationship with the devil.
7 Harvey Kinkle
Anyone who is remotely familiar with the world of Sabrina Spellman would already be aware of the importance of Harvey Kinkle, but honestly, CAOS didn’t do much to expand upon his character or give him a role beyond Sabrina’s boyfriend.
That was obvious enough when the show first began, but when Harvey and Sabrina broke up, the fact that he was relegated to someone who was just there in the background was even more unfortunate.
6 Lucifer
It’s impossible to overlook the importance of Lucifer in the story of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina at large, but to be honest, as time went on his character seemed to be less and less relevant to the story.
Obviously the focal point of the final season had almost nothing to do with the devil, but given what a significant power player he seemed to be in the earlier seasons, it’s hard not to notice that his character arc went downhill over time.
5 Theo Putnam
Although Theo was much more a part of Sabrina’s mortal world than he was a part of the magical one, he also got one of the most important character arcs within the show.
Unfortunately by the time Part 4 of the series rolled around he was just a supporting presence in the story, but obviously his transition was one of the most unique aspects of the series as a whole.
4 Roz Walker
It’s unfortunate that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was canceled when it was, because the revelation that Roz was a witch seemed to be the beginning of a major arc for Roz and not the end of one.
However, it’s safe to say that Roz was the most narratively important character out of all of Sabrina’s friends, and her character only got better, stronger, and more relevant as time went on.
3 Prudence Night
Like nearly every other character in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina world, Prudence Night suffered a lot throughout her character arc. But with that said, she was never the type of person to take any slight lying down.
Punishing her father for all of the wrongs that he did to her and her sisters became her mission in life, and given that her story ended in a room with Faustus and a chainsaw, it’s safe to say that she accomplished her goal.
2 Zelda Spellman
Although she wasn’t the greatest at showing it, it’s impossible to deny that Zelda is one of the most caring members of the Spellman family, and given how responsible she feels for everyone that she loves, Sabrina’s death would have been difficult for Zelda.
But by the end of the series she wasn’t as dependent on Hilda, and she had established herself as an independent thinker and leader among her coven.
1 Hilda Spellman
The loss of Sabrina was undoubtedly a crushing blow to Hilda, especially since she seems to be the most sensitive and family-oriented member of the Spellman clan.
However overall, there really wasn’t anyone who went through more personal development than Hilda either. She began her journey as an insecure and isolated person, and she ended it as a seemingly fulfilled and confident woman who was ready to return to her magical Spellman world with Dr. C in tow.
