10 The Director And His Secrets

Andrew Adamson decided that it would be best if certain details from the wardrobe, makeup, and costumes are kept a secret (even from the cast), until the very last moment.

He made this decision first and foremost for certain security measures and protocols, but more importantly, to surprise the rest of the cast. He wanted to capture their original expressions on camera as they would see their colleagues as magical creatures.

Chronicles Of Narnia gained so much attention and publicity that the production decided to expand their reach in order for them to get a movie adaptation.

The age recommendation for movies is a serious topic and in many countries, there are strict rules to follow so the producers cut off some scenes and sounds from the movie to lower the age recommendation. The move was incredibly smart and brought them additional benefits.

8 Sugar or Silicone

A movie set is where the magic happens but, a lot of times, there is an awful lot of pranks between the cast members. One of the more memorable pranks was the one William Moseley pulled on his colleague Skandar Keynes when he tricked him into believing that the sugar-glass was made to be eaten.

As soon as Keynes took a rather large bite he realized that the glass is made from silicone and it is rather disgusting than sweet and delicious.

7 Careful What You Wish For

In one of the scenes, Edmund Pevensie (Skandar Keynes) asked the White Witch (Tilda Swinton) to make him taller. As it turned out his wish was granted but it came with an additional bonus.

During the filming of the movie, the actor grew over fifteen centimeters. His voice also matured, which meant that the producers weren’t able to use his voice. Instead, they had to bring his younger sibling who provided his voice.

6 C. S. Lewis Objected to Screen Adaptation

Every published author dreams for his books to witness a movie adaptation, where their characters will come to life and their story will be told to a larger audience.

However, this was not the case with the author of the Chronicles Of Narnia, for he did not wish for his magical masterpiece to be turned into a movie. He believed that nobody can portray the magical creatures in their true form on the screen and keep what makes them so special.

5 The Director Found Prince Caspian Through Tape

Andrew Adamson is the movie director of Chronicles Of Narnia and it took him a little bit over two weeks to find the right actor for the role of Prince Caspian.

It all happened very fast. Gail Stevens, the casting director, sent Adamson a tape of Ben Barnes acting in a play and suggested that he should seriously consider hiring him for the role. The director set up a meeting and the rest is history.

4 Aslan And All The Challenges

The audience surely loved Aslan, the powerful lion who came to the rescue. Creating the beast was a great challenge for the filmmakers since he was made entirely through the magic of CGI and human expressions.

It was a great challenge since every frame the lion appeared in, it took countless hours of rendering and preparation, which is an obscene amount of work. In the end, the hard work paid off since he was one of the favorite characters in the franchise.

3 Stunt Double Was A Definite Requirement

Dangerous scenes where actors must jump off a bridge or perform something out of the ordinary occasionally require a stunt double. This was not the case with the actress, Anna Popplewell, who played the character of the brave Susan Pevensie.

She requested a double to assist in scenes where mice were present. It was revealed that she is suffering from musophobia, which is something that causes her terror and great anxiety.

2 Mr. Tumnus Took Hours To Get Ready

One of the best characters in the movies is Mr. Tumnus (James McAvoy), who won fans over with his peculiar looks. His posture, the way he moved, and the entire costume took countless hours, every day, to bring him to life the character everyone loved.

It must have been totally and utterly exhausting for McAvoy to go through this process every morning, but he has stated on many occasions that it was nothing but a big pleasure.

1 Ben Barnes Was Dragged In His First Scene

Prince Caspian was portrayed as a young man who wasn’t afraid of anything and it seems that Ben Barnes doesn’t fall far from his character. Apparently, on the first day, Barnes was getting ready to shoot his first scene.

The director asked him to lie down, where his foot was tied with a rope and he was pulled into the frame. The scene was shot successfully and Ben Barnes officially dragged into the movie.
