Cobra Kai The Main Characters Ranked By Intelligence

William Zabka and Ralph Macchio reprise their roles as Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso from The Karate Kid in Cobra Kai, and a whole new cast of characters are introduced, including the main protagonists’ children and new students for each of their dojos.

The recurring characters on Cobra Kai have varying intelligence levels and there are some side characters, like Stingray and Daniel’s cousin, Louie, who are definitely some of the most unintelligent characters of the show. And there are other main characters, like John Kreese and Amanda LaRusso, who are some of the smartest.

10 Eli Moskowitz (Hawk)

Cobra Kai The Main Characters Ranked By Intelligence

Eli begins the series as a sensitive and kind kid who seems to be an incredibly intelligent student in school, but he turns into Hawk and begins to spiral out of control, as he takes on the new persona.

Hawk makes quick and harsh decisions without thinking through the consequences and he tends to go straight to violence and bullying to solve his problems. And although not Eli’s fault, it seems that he’s falling for Kreese’s manipulation and makes unintelligent decisions when he wrecks Miyagi-Do and chooses Kreese over Johnny.

9 Samantha LaRusso

Samantha seems to be a capable student, but she also spends most of the series being naive and isn’t confident with her decisions. She lets her new friend Yasmin mercilessly bully her once-best-friend Aisha, and doesn’t stand up to her or even comfort Aisha, even though she feels terrible about it.

Samantha tries to solve problems without violence, much like her father typically does, but she rarely goes about it in a smart way. She tends to hold in what she actually thinks and feels, especially in her relationships with Robby and Miguel, and it causes a lot of problems throughout the series.

8 Robby Keene

Robby is, like his father Johnny, trying to change and become a better person throughout the series. He has a difficult past, where he was despondent and fell in with a group that committed petty crimes.

Robby starts to think he can have a better life when he becomes close with Daniel and starts dating Sam. But the fact that he has lied to both Daniel and Sam about Johnny being his father and Miguel returning Mr. Miyagi’s Medal of Honor proves that he doesn’t make the most intelligent decisions, not to mention losing his control during the season 2 finale fight.

7 Tory Nichols

Tory is savvier and tends to catch on quicker than most of the other teenagers on the show. She starts a relationship with Miguel after convincing him to move on from Sam and quickly picks up on the fact that the two still have feelings for each other.

She knows how to stand up for herself and is able to speak her mind, but she still, unfortunately, makes some unintelligent decisions, like starting the fight at the end of season 2 and seeming to choose Kreese over Johnny.

6 Johnny Lawrence

Johnny Lawrence is trying to change in Cobra Kai by creating the new dojo and teaching his kids to have the self-confidence to stand up for themselves and fight.

He has some hilarious and witty lines in the show that tend to reflect the way he still lives with a 1980s mindset and doesn’t fully understand the modern world most notably computers and technology. Johnny’s trying to learn and change, especially with the help of his new student, Miguel, but he still clings to dangerous and unintelligent habits, like drunk driving.

5 Aisha Robinson

Cobra Kai The Main Characters Ranked By Intelligence

Aisha is a caring, confident, and intelligent character who truly grows throughout the series without losing her core kindness. She wants to get along with everyone, especially her off and on best friend Sam, and although she stands up for Cobra Kai and isn’t afraid to fight, she doesn’t think that they really need to fight each other.

Aisha is one of the only characters who truly tries to get the two groups to get along.

4 Daniel LaRusso

Cobra Kai The Main Characters Ranked By Intelligence

Daniel is obviously an intelligent and savvy character who has built a successful business since The Karate Kid, but he’s focusing too much on Miyagi-Do and allowing his responsibilities with his wife at the auto group to falter. He tries his best to be a good father to his two kids and to Robby when he begins training him, but he tends to overreact to typical things teenagers do, like Robby lying to him, and his harsh reactions cause a lot of trouble.

Daniel also makes quick decisions without fully thinking through the consequences, like manipulating the rent at Cobra Kai without thinking about the other businesses he’s hurting, and he always feels regret when he truly thinks things through after the fact. Hopefully, Daniel can get his quick temper in check and make more well-thought-out and rational decisions in the future.

3 Miguel Diaz

Cobra Kai The Main Characters Ranked By Intelligence

Miguel is a lovable, kind, and confident character who, like Aisha, doesn’t lose his kind and sensitive side fully to Cobra Kai. He’s tech-savvy and willing to help Johnny market the new dojo properly with a website. Between the website and the fight at school, Miguel is the main reason why the dojo gets new students.

He is also the only teenage Cobra Kai member who is concerned about Kreese when he starts seeing holes in his stories and brings up his concerns with Johnny. He makes a few bad decisions, just like any other teen, but hopefully, in season 3, Miguel can continue to grow into the intelligent and mature character he’s been in the first two seasons.

2 Amanda LaRusso

Cobra Kai The Main Characters Ranked By Intelligence

Amanda is a confident and capable character who successfully runs the LaRusso Auto Group as the CEO of the company. She’s more logical and level-headed than her husband, Daniel, and gives him a lot of good advice throughout the series, which he tends not to take.

She defuses Daniel and Johnny’s rivalry on more than one occasion and is constantly telling them both to forget the past. She’s also a great mother who tends to have calmer reactions to her children, and Robby, when they mess up.

1 John Kreese

John Kreese is the most intelligent character of the series and, unfortunately, he uses all of his knowledge and abilities to carry out his villainous plans.

He is a master manipulator and knows how to interact with everyone just right so he can get his way. He’s able to almost effortlessly steal Cobra Kai back from Johnny and get the loyalty of most of his students. Hopefully, Johnny and Daniel can put aside their differences and fight the cunning Kreese in season 3 of Cobra Kai.
