Anyone who has survived even just a few hours of a Dark Souls game is well aware that the franchise is set in a very serious, dark environment. The setting of full of monstrosities and the player character is working to save the world from complete and total disaster. Despite the heavy themes and settings, players who take the time to master the game and spend dozens of hours in the Kingdom of Lothric still know how to have a good time.

Dark Souls 3 may not be the kind of game that fans will mod to the same extent as a Fallout or a Skyrim, but the dedicated players still find ways to make the world their own with the built in tools and the occasional mod. One of the ways to do this is with the incredibly detailed character creation screen. Players can mold the protagonist to look like just about anything they would like and it’s a new Dark Souls franchise tradition to bring the handlebar mustached Alex Louis Armstrong, from Full Metal Alchemist, into the world of demon slaying.

Youtuber HappySouls loses the character’s shirt, adds a mustache and sparkles, and starts punching every monster in sight with the style of the iconic manga and anime character. Check out the video to see what we mean…

Other Dark Souls enthusiasts have recreated in Louis Armstrong in Dark Souls 2, but this is the first time we’ve spotted the character in the latest version of the franchise. Comic and anime fans who are familiar with the Full Metal Alchemist series will definitely enjoy watching Armstrong run around in boxing gloves fighting demons, but hopefully even Dark Souls fans who don’t know the character will still get a kick out of his bizarre aesthetic.

Considering the raw power of the Dark Souls 3 character creation screen, it’s a little surprising that the community hasn’t seen more tributes to other figures from games, comics, and movies. The Dark Souls modding community spends more time on drastic gameplay changes like Dark Souls first-person mode, but we’d definitely love to see more mods built around changing the protagonist’s appearance more drastically. We won’t speak for everyone, but playing with Dark Souls 3 as Master Chief or Captain America sounds like a good time to us. Until then, we’re happy to watch the hardcore players attempt to beat the game using voice commands only.

Dark Souls 3 is now available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
