New set photos surface from the production of Dungeons & Dragons, offering a full look at the costume and weapon for Michelle Rodriguez’s character. The role-playing tabletop game first launched in 1974 and was created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, offering players a chance to step into a fantasy world full of adventure. The game has since expanded to feature various crossover themes over the years, including Stranger Things and Rick and Morty, while also offering the opportunity for players to devise their own themes.

New Line Cinema previously attempted to bring the world of Dungeons & Dragons to the big screen in 2000 with the Courtney Solomon-helmed adaptation of the same name, though the result was a critical lashing and box office flop. After two similarly panned made-for-TV adaptations and the rights to D&D being passed around various studios, Paramount Pictures became the home for the next film iteration, with Game Night duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley tapped to write and direct. A few months after landing the job, the writer/directors built an ensemble cast including Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Regé-Jean Page.

With production underway on the film, set photos have begun surfacing on social media, and Forgotten Realms Wiki has taken to Twitter to share some glimpses of the cast and set. New photos have revealed a clearer look at the full costume for Rodriguez’s character as well as the large axe wielded by her still-unknown character. Check out the new set photos below:

There’s still a lot of unknown elements regarding the plot and characters of the film, but early set photos have at least offered a look at the promising production design for Dungeons & Dragons. Thanks to the world of the Fast & Furious franchise, Rodriguez has established a reputation for her ability to become a badass character on the big screen and the new photos certainly point towards Goldstein and Francis Daley looking to take advantage of this for their film. From the intriguing tattoos running up both of her arms to the large axe sitting on her back, the level of anticipation is definitely building to learn more about her character, if not the whole roster.

The biggest thing the set photos have revealed about the film that is sure to put some fan concern at ease is there will be dragons in Dungeons & Dragons. Between his teases of the film being perfect for a post-MCU world and featuring dragon fights, Bridgerton alum Regé-Jean Page certainly seems to be someone to keep an eye on for new details. The fantasy epic is currently set to hit theaters on March 3, 2023.
