Every October Field Research Tasks (& Rewards) in Pokémon GO

A new set of Field Research Tasks and rewards have been added to Pokémon GO. Completing them will give players Pokémon encounters and items.

October features new Field Research Tasks and Rewards for players to earn in Pokémon Go. These count as daily tasks for players to complete. Each day the player completes one, they will earn a stamp. Once the player collects all 7 stamps, they will be rewarded with a Research Breakthrough reward. This will provide players with items, XP, and the chance to encounter Yamask, the Ghost-type Pokemon that originates from the Unova region. October is the spooky season, meaning Pokémon Go is going above in beyond to celebrate Ghost-type Pokemon.

This month is introducing a Halloween event in Pokémon Go with new tasks, Pokemon, and a new Costumed Pikachu. The list of Field Research Tasks can also provide players with a chance for rare encounters. This includes Pokemon like Dratini, which can be found if the player catches a Dragon-type Pokemon. Although, finding these specific Field Research Tasks can be time-consuming since which Field Research Task the player obtains from spinning a PokeStop is completely random. Players will need to throw away their tasks and spin another one for a chance for a new task. While players can hold three tasks at a time, players should aim to collect at least one stamp per day.

Each stamp is marked with the date that the player completed the task. This is the complete list of all active Field Research Tasks for October. With Yamask being the Research Breakthrough reward, players can grind for candy to help them find and catch Runerigus in Pokémon GO. This will remain the same until November begins.

• Battle in Go Battle League: Karrablast encounter.
• Catch 10 Fire-type Pokémon: Charizard Mega Energy
• Catch 10 Grass-type Pokémon: Venusaur Mega Energy
• Catch 10 Normal-type Pokémon: 10 Pidgeot Mega Energy
• Catch 10 Water-type Pokémon: 10 Blastoise Mega Energy
• Catch 18 Dark-type Pokémon: Spiritomb encounter.
• Catch 18 Ghost-type Pokémon: Spiritomb encounter.
• Catch 5 Pokémon with Weather Boost: Poliwag, Vulpix, Hippopotas, or Snover encounter.
• Catch 5 Pokémon: Gastly encounter.
• Catch 7 Pokémon: Magikarp
• Catch a Dragon-type Pokémon: Dratini or Bagon encounter.
• Defeat 3 Team Go Rocket members: Scyther encounter.
• Earn 2 Candies walking with your buddy: Bunnelby encounter. This is one of the ways players can find and catch a Shiny Bunnelby in Pokemon Go.
• Earn 3 Candies walking with your buddy: Sableye or Stunfisk encounter.
• Earn 3 hearts with your buddy: Poochyena encounter.
• Evolve a Pokémon: Eevee encounter.
• Hatch 2 Eggs: Beldum encounter.
• Hatch an Egg: Pinsir encounter.

• Make 2 Excellent Throws: Alolan Grimer encounter.
• Make 3 Excellent Throws in a row: Gible encounter.
• Make 3 Great Throws in a row: Onix encounter.
• Make 3 Great Throws: Snubbull, Lileep, or Anorith encounter.
• Make 3 Nice Throws in a row: Houndour encounter.
• Make 5 Great Curveball Throws in a row: Spinda encounter.
• Make 5 Nice Throws: Dunsparce encounter.
• Power up Pokémon 3 times: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle encounter.
• Power up Pokémon 5 times: Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile encounters or 10 Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Beedrill or Pidgeot Mega Energy
• Power up Pokémon 7 times: Mudkip, Treecko, or Torchic encounter.
• Send a gift to a friend: Spinarak encounter.
• Spin 3 PokéStops or Gyms: Sudowoodo encounter.
• Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms: Ralts encounter.
• Take 2 snapshots of a wild Ghost-type Pokémon: Shuppet encounter.
• Take a snapshot of a wild Pokémon: Murkrow, Hoppip, or Yanma encounter.
• Trade a Pokémon: Dwebble encounter.
• Use 10 supereffective Charged Attacks: 20 Gengar Mega Energy
• Use 3 Pinap Berries while catching Pokémon: Hoothoot encounter.
• Win 5 Raids: Aerodactyl encounter.
• Win a Level 3 or higher Raid: Omanyte or Kabuto
• Win a raid: Litwick encounter.

There’s also a chance for players to encounter a Shiny version of a Pokemon during one of these encounters. It’s incredibly rare, with a chance of 1/500 chance of finding one. New Field Research Tasks are available at the start of each month in Pokémon GO.
