Ghostface Looms Over Woodsboro In Scream (2022) Dolby Movie Poster

Ghostface is back to loom large over Woodsboro in the Dolby exclusive poster for 2022’s Scream. The iconic slasher franchise hasn’t had a movie since 2011’s Scream 4, but it will return to movie theaters in just over a month with a new installment that harkens back to the franchise’s early beginnings. The first Scream movie not to be directed by the late, great Wes Craven, the reboot was instead put in the care of Ready or Not filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Scream stars a mix of newcomers and legacy characters, led once again by Neve Campbell’s beloved scream queen Sidney Prescott.

The movie takes the action back to where it all began in Woodsboro as another Ghostface killer sets their sights on a new generation of victims. Even beyond its title, Scream holds ties to the movies that came before through said victims; as the first trailer confirmed, Ghostface now targets the relatives of the original killers, giving this latest murder spree a personal touch. Scream has many potential victims, from Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) to Richie Kirsch (Jack Quaid). It also has just as many suspects.

To celebrate the movie’s upcoming release, Dolby has just unveiled its exclusive Scream poster. Anyone who has followed the news regarding the film might recognize the design, as it was based on a piece of fan art created by Creepy Duck Design. It shows Ghostface looming over the road leading to Woodsboro like a, well, ghost. The poster also reminds fans they can catch Scream at Dolby Cinema, which is designed to elevate every type of movie experience. Check it out below.

Much of Scream’s marketing materials have put the focus on the Ghostface mask imagery, which is terrifying and perfectly exemplifies the franchise. Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have gone to great lengths to keep the identity of the new Ghostface tightly under wraps, to the point of not even telling certain cast members. Dolby’s poster only heightens the mystery; with the killer appearing as an apparition above this tragedy-prone town, it paints an ominous picture of what lies ahead.

With all this hype, one just has to hope the 2022 Scream will live up to expectations. Though the original movie is a horror classic, many fans feel the sequels saw diminishing returns. There’s a hope that fresh blood (pun intended) can breathe new life into the series. Plus, the returns of Sidney, Dewey Riley (David Arquette), and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) can be the perfect bridge between the original movies and this new generation. Scream won’t be the same without Craven’s touch, but there could be good reason to be excited about the future.
