Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

Gotham has finally come to an end, but it’s left a lasting legacy over the DC TV world. It’s been a surprise hit and ran for so long due to its ever-increasing fan base. The prequel series created something brand new for the Batman world and it really worked.

We got to see a number of characters during their earliest days in the DC city. Each of them had a perfectly designed costume to match their alter ego. We’re looking at the 10 best dressed characters from across all of Gotham and they’re ranked!

10 PENGUIN

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

First up on this list is a well-known character from DC comics and one of Batman’s most dangerous villains. The Penguin has a pretty simple look which is why he is at the bottom of this list. Extra points for the brilliant overall look especially with the hair though.

The classic suit invokes some of the best versions of the character from the comics. It’s sleek, understated but there are a number of hidden tricks up his sleeves, including the knife in the shoe. Plus, the looks can be completed with a variety of hats or an umbrella!

9 FIREFLY

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

Firefly isn’t as well used in the wider Batman mythos compared to some of the other characters on this list. However, her costume really helps with the overall concept of the character. This burn victim is out for revenge on literally anyone she can kill.

The suit is perfect for protecting her against the flames as well as to hide her scarred exterior. It embodies the character well and there’s something monstrous about the suit. The flamethrower and backpack complete this awesome look.

8 PROFESSOR PYG

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

Professor Pyg is the kind of character that is designed to completely terrify. The general idea of the villain is for him to be a twisted serial killer that likes to play with his victims and hack at them with saws and butcher’s equipment.

The Pyg mask and mad scientist costume is actually incredibly creepy. There’s something so visceral about the look and we know if we were strapped to one of his tables we would be freaking out. The costume is, therefore, an incredibly effective design.

7 MAD HATTER

The Mad Hatter is obviously inspired by Alice in Wonderland and so his costume has to match the character from the books and films. The design chosen is more of a classic look that firmly puts him about halfway on this best-dressed list.

The suit, along with top hat is a great costume although not one that strikes fear. However, it allows Hatter to completely embody his character which is perhaps even more terrifying since he is so convinced of it.

6 JOKER

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

The Joker was never quite the Joker throughout the series but we actually had two versions of the character who were only fully realized towards the end of the show. Both Jerome and his twin definitely knew how to dress the part though.

The scarring across the face, the variety of hats, the white skin, the purple coats, and brightly colored costumes. All the looks the Joker chose were perfect for the character yet completely unique to Gotham as one of the best Batman shows.

5 BATMAN

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

The Batman costume in this series certainly isn’t the best one that we’ve seen in live-action. However, it fits the character well, becoming an earlier form of a costume that will later develop into what we’re much more used to.

With that in mind, this early Batman design is actually pretty great. It brings in many of the elements we’re used to but scales it down for a younger version of the character. The mask especially looks spectacular and we’re impressed that they pulled it off.

4 AZRAEL

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

Azrael is a pretty difficult look to adapt to the screen. We’ve seen it done well in the comics and video games, but it’s surprising to see it done so effectively on this television series. Everything from the mask to the color scheme was spot on.

The costume is supposed to be evocative of an old crusader, still cased in his armor from battle. This does a very effective job of portraying that but still remains both practical for battle and symbolic of the wider mission Azrael is embarking on.

3 SCARECROW

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

Part of Scarecrow’s gimmick is that he scares people with his rag mask and costume. The look of the character had to be spot on in order for that particular plot point to be effective. Luckily the show produced one of the best costumes on this list.

It’s actually a pretty scary look and we can imagine all sorts of bugs and beetles crawling out from underneath it. It’s based on the traditional look of the character but there’s a rugged quality to it and that makes it feel worn down and aged.

2 MR FREEZE

Gotham The Best Dressed Characters Ranked

Mr. Freeze is another character with a very difficult look to adapt. We’ve seen it on film before and it looked absolutely terrible. However, this latest version of the costume definitely puts the character high up on the best-dressed list.

The suit very clearly does what it needs to in order to keep Mr. Freeze from becoming too warm. However, it’s not as bulky as we would have expected and the color scheme is perfect for the powers of this mad scientist. We hope to see something similar on screen again soon.

1 RIDDLER

The Riddler has always been one of the best-dressed characters in all of DC. His purple and green color scheme, slick suits and bowler hats have always managed to create a look that’s sophisticated yet dangerous.

His question mark staff, as well as logos, usually add an extra element to his look. The final version we see in Gotham is exactly what it needed to be, capturing the essence of madness that runs through Edward Nigma.
