An exploit discovered in Grand Theft Auto Online allows players to bring vehicles to the newly added Cayo Perico area. GTA Online launched alongside Grand Theft Auto V back in 2013, and developer Rockstar Games has continued to support the title through updates and expansions.

Grand Theft Auto Online’s newest expansion, The Cayo Perico Heist, added a large amount of additional content to an already huge multiplayer experience. The expansion added an entirely new area, the private island of Cayo Perico, which is accompanied by brand new missions which are playable both solo and cooperatively. A new nightclub was also added to the game, complete with multiple rotating DJs, alongside several new radio stations to give players a whole host of new music options.

A new exploit, discovered by Twitter user NuroCitrix, allows players to bring vehicles into The Cayo Perico Heist’s scope-out mission. Bringing a Pegasus vehicle out to the corner of Grand Theft Auto Online’s map and leaving it there will allow players to use this vehicle once they trigger the scope-out mission, which causes the Cayo Perico map to spawn. Vehicles are usually prohibited during this mission, so the exploit allows players to get around a little faster as they scope out the island.

I’m not sure if anyone has done this yet but if you take a Pegasus vehicle out to where the Cayo Perico island spawns and leave it there you can actually use that vehicle in the scope out mission. You can see here I am flying around the island in the Dodo. pic.twitter.com/ex4UNVb4mP

Music and tropical islands aren’t the only new features added in The Cayo Perico Heist. Rockstar also added a new easter egg in the update, which allows players to spot the Loch Ness Monster swimming just off the shores of the Cayo Perico map. Alongside the new additions in The Cayo Perico Heist, Rockstar has continued to support Grand Theft Auto Online in other ways as well. A holiday-themed update for the multiplayer title ran from from December 22 to December 30, giving players free seasonal goodies such as festive sweaters and vehicle decorations.

As a traditionally open-world sandbox series, Grand Theft Auto has always been full of player experimentation and exploitation. From cheat codes to actual glitches, players are always finding new way to use the games’ systems in new ways. Brining vehicles to Cayo Perico’s scope-out mission may not be intended by Rockstar, but it does make players’ lives a little bit easier. Even though the exploit is harmless fun, it remains to be seen whether Rockstar will remove this unintended advantage from Grand Theft Auto Online.
