Fred and George from Harry Potter might be two of the most beloved characters from the series. These twins were loved by fans from the start because they are mischievous, smart, and charismatic. While fans were devastated when Fred died at the Battle of Hogwarts, there will always be the hilarious, joyful moments of Fred and George getting into trouble to enjoy. These two were often messing around and breaking rules, and they also loved to pull a good prank or joke.

10 PRETENDING TO BE ONE ANOTHER

One of the best jokes and pranks that Fred and George ever pulled is actually super simple. Given that they were identical twins, they would often mess with people by briefly pretending to be the other.

They would switch up their names and answer to the other person’s. They even did this to their own mother, even though it would definitely drive her crazy when they did. This was an easy way to pull a joke that never got old for these tricksters.

9 PUSHING MONTAGUE INTO THE VANISHING CABINET

The reason that this prank is so low on the list is that it actually was kind of an extreme thing to do. There’s no denying that Graham Montague was a piece of work. As a member of Umbridge’s Inquisitorial Squad, he was abusing his power and bullying others.

So, it is funny to think of him being briefly pushed into a cabinet and being vanished. However, they probably should have at least told someone or checked to see if he was all right.

8 TRYING TO PUT THEIR NAMES INTO THE GOBLET OF FIRE

Fred and George are two people that love to entertain and put on a good show. They really enjoyed making others laugh or getting a reaction from a crowd. So, when the Triwizard Tournament was held at Hogwarts, it’s’ not surprising they wanted the chance to get some attention.

So, when they used the Aging Potion to try to enter their names, it turned into a pretty great joke moment. While Fred and George might not have intended to end up with huge beards, they took it in stride and made everyone laugh.

7 WHEN THEY STOLE THE MARAUDER’S MAP

Because of the fact that Fred and George were always breaking rules, they had many run-ins with Argus Filch. So, when they were in his office at one point, it’s rather funny that they had enough of dealing with him and stole what looked like an interesting magical object.

It’s also a good thing they did because this map allowed them to get up to a lot of pranks and trouble. This was really the start of some of the worst of their troublemaking.

6 HITTING PROFESSOR QUIRRELL WITH SNOWBALLS

Fred and George are two characters who don’t have a ton of respect for authority and given how many of the professors at Hogwarts are rather incompetent, or even evil, it’s easy to see why.

So, when they bewitched snowballs to hit the back of Quirrell’s head, it’s actually kind of funny. But, what makes this even funnier is the fact that by doing so they were actually hitting Voldemort with snowballs even though they didn’t know it.

5 INVENTING THE SKIVING SNACKBOXES

When Fred and George invented the Skiving Snackboxes, this led to many of their best jokes and pranks. They accidentally turned Neville into a canary when they couldn’t remember what formula they put in the dessert.

They also had Dudley’s tongue turn ginormous using the ton-tongue toffee. While they might not have always been super nice about using these, they were pretty funny at times. And, the funniest thing of all is when they tested them on themselves and ended up with huge blisters on their back ends.

4 TURNING RON’S TEDDY BEAR INTO A BIG SPIDER

Having Fred and George as your older brothers would not have been easy. Ron definitely had to deal with a lot with these two troublemakers around. When Fred and George turned Ron’s teddy bear into a spider, this was a pretty mean thing to do to a kid.

However, it’s’ definitely the kind of ridiculous prank that would happen in families if magic was around. This also shows just how good at magic these two actually were from a young age.

3 CREATING THEIR OWN ENTIRE LINE OF JOKE PRODUCTS

Along with the Skiving Snackboxes, Fred and George began to develop their own entire line of joke products by the time they were 16. This shows just how talented they were and how committed they were to making this their career.

This isn’t exactly one specific joke or prank, but these products allowed them to joke with a lot of people. One example is when they would leave their joke wands around that would turn into these like rubber chickens. And, by eventually opening their own joke shop, they were able to promote pranks and jokes all around in the Harry Potter world.

2 SETTING UP THE PORTABLE SWAMP OUTSIDE OF UMBRIDGE’S OFFICE

When Umbridge takes over control of Hogwarts, this is when Fred and George really pull their best pranks. Seeing as how Umbridge is horrible, these pranks are especially funny because she deserves them.

When they set up a portable swamp outside of her office that she can’t figure out how to get rid of, it’s definitely their parting gift to her for being the worst.

1 LETTING OFF THE FIREWORKS DURING THEIR GRAND EXIT

When Fred and George make their triumphant leave from Hogwarts, they do so in style. They first break out their brooms from where Ubridge has them locked up, and then they let off the entire supply of their fireworks line.

This is a great prank that causes mayhem for Umbridge, and, what’s even better, is they tell Peeves to keep up their pranking while they are gone.
