Cobra Kai season 4 can finally fix Miguel’s biggest mistake – fighting dirty in the season 1 All Valley Tournament. Fueled by Johnny’s misguided teachings and anger at Robby’s friendship with Sam, Miguel used a number of underhanded tactics to win the season 1 tournament, including striking Robby intentionally in his injured shoulder. Miguel eventually came to regret how he fought, and he can finally redeem himself in season 4’s tournament.

That All Valley Tournament is already being built up as the big climax of Cobra Kai season 4, with a number of characters all vying for victory. Sam, Robby, Miguel, Tory, and Hawk and all have a chance at claiming the title, but Miguel has perhaps the biggest reason to want to win. When he took first place in season 1, he did so with the same dirty strategies that the Cobra Kai of old employed – moves that brought shame on both him and Johnny. To clear his name, as it were, Miguel needs to win again in season 4 – this time, the right way.

There are plenty of compelling reasons for other characters to win Cobra Kai season 4’s All Valley, but Miguel and Johnny are still the show’s main protagonists. It’s their relationship and their individual journeys that have always driven the story of the show, and for that story to be complete, they need to demonstrate how much they’ve each grown on the biggest public stage possible. Plus, now that Miguel will be learning Miyagi-Do as well, he’ll be in prime shape to beat even the toughest of competition.

Having Miguel win the season 4 All Valley would also be a perfect way to complete Johnny’s original Karate Kid arc. In the film, Johnny loses to Daniel because his dirty tricks are no match for true karate. Though he’s far too old to enter the tournament himself in Cobra Kai, Miguel winning fairly under Johnny’s instruction would finally bring him a victory as well. Of course, in order to get there, Johnny and Miguel will have to overcome some big obstacles in Cobra Kai season 4.
