Netflix The Best New TV Shows & Movies This Weekend (January 1)

This weekend, Netflix will say goodbye to 2020 and will welcome 2021 with open arms with the release of a Danish drama TV series, the final episodes of the adventures of a famous witch, the third season of a popular martial arts TV show, and a series that’s all about meditation. With the future of cinemas around the world unknown due to the coronavirus pandemic, streaming services continue being the main source of entertainment for the audience as well as a good option for studios to release those movies that couldn’t get a proper theatrical release. In addition to providing a home to those releases, Netflix continues producing its own content and adding new TV shows and movies every week.

Last weekend, the streaming giant added the heist comedy The Con Is On, the romantic drama After We Collided, the animated movie Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer’s Llamas, and the children’s TV series Timmy Time, along with the music documentary Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You, George Clooney’s sci-fi movie The Midnight Sky, the period drama TV series Bridgerton, and Robert Rodriguez’s We Can Be Heroes. As it does on the first day of every month, Netflix will add a bunch of licensed content in order to start the new year with the right foot, and among those titles are the comedies 17 Again and Can’t Hardly Wait, Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and Goodfellas, Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, and the martial arts classic Enter the Dragon.
