Season 2 introduced a ton of new content and changes to the online landscape for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Not only did fans see a return of classic Modern Warfare 2 character Ghost as a playable operator, but even more maps were added like the fan favorite location Rust. Of course, the biggest development during season 2 was the introduction of Warzone, Call of Duty’s latest take on the battle royale genre. After kicking off in early February, Season 2 is quickly coming to an end as Infinity Ward begins teasing the next wave of content.

Known as Worlds Collide, the third season for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is on the horizon. To get fan excited for what’s to come, a new teaser image has surfaced from promotional materials sent a little early to certain individuals. What is clear based on the material is that new content is coming to Spec Ops, Warzone, and the online multiplayer. Fans should also expect a brand new battle pass for season 3 as well.

The marketing image features a new skin for Alex, a character introduced in the game’s campaign mode and is being positioned as the main unlockable character for this season. The tagline in the promotional material reads: “Operators return, New Gear arrives, and worlds collide.” There’s still a lot the players don’t know about the upcoming season, though the Alex reveal left many fans surprised considering the turn his story takes inside of the campaign.

While Activision may not be talking about Season 3 yet, some information has seemingly leaked out a bit early. Dataminers have seemingly discovered a new map set to arrive in Season 3 inside of the game files. The files are called Village and many have begun to assume that this could be an updated version of the Modern Warfare 3 map by the same name.

In addition to leaked information, Infinity Ward has provided a little bit of clarity on a few bugs that are going to be fixed inside of the upcoming season. Infinity Ward is actively looking into the stun grenade glitch, where the hit marker fails to appear, though shotgun slug spread is likely getting a tune up at season 3 launch. Xbox One players who are still missing the UDT Ghost Bundle for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will have to wait a bit longer as a fix continues to be worked on.

Players have the rest of today to finish up any Battle Pass tiers as the new season begins on Wednesday, April 8. The release date reveal also brought with it the first image showing the return of Alex, two additional operators, and a few other teases. Four parachuting soldiers in the background is a likely indicator that quads is being added to Warzone, letting four players team up together. One of the maps in the background also looks conspicuously similar to the Modern Warfare 3 map Backlot.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
