The developer behind Pokemon Sun and Moon, Game Freak, confirms when fans can expect to learn more details regarding the pair of hotly anticipated installments.

At this point, it’s no secret that Nintendo fans are in for a difficult year. After delaying The Legend of Zelda into 2017 and confirming that the company’s new console, codenamed NX, wouldn’t be arriving until March of next year, the reality is that there are really only a handful of titles to keep gamers preoccupied. Fortunately, two of the bigger games arriving in 2016 are none other than the next core iterations of the Pocket Monster franchise, Pokemon Sun and Moon.

It goes without saying that gamers are understandably excited about the prospect of exploring an entirely new and tropical region within the world of Pokemon, while the promise of brand new monsters in Sun and Moon certainly doesn’t hurt anything either. Those facts are enough to get gamers excited about the games’ impending arrival, but solid details on the new software is almost non-existent at this point in time. It sounds as if Nintendo and The Pokemon Company are getting ready to change that, however, as news has dropped that there will be more information arriving shortly.

Taking to Twitter, the producer of Pokemon Sun and Moon, Junichi Masuda, confirmed that more information on the games would be arriving on May 10, 2016 at 21:00 PM JST (5:00 AM PT). While that time and date are all well and good, Masuda and developer Game Freak have yet to clarify what news will arrive or even what form this info drop will take. Perhaps the company just plans on releasing a trailer, or maybe there’s another Nintendo Direct planned to further flesh out the concept of these new Pokemon titles. Whatever the method of delivery, there’s little question that Trainers are eager to get their heads wrapped around it.

Thus far, the only facet of information snoops have had to build on is a recent trademark filed by Nintendo that seems to suggest that the names of the two new Legendary cover Pokemon have been revealed. Of course, at this point in time that’s speculative, but they do appear to lineup well with the lunar and solar themes of the new games.

Despite the new Pocket Monster games still being months away, at least fans can take solace in the fact that all of the beasts they capture in the re-releases of Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow on 3DS can be transferred to Pokemon Sun and Moon upon the latter pair’s release. Yep, it’s hard to hate having a Charizard at the ready for a brand new adventure.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are set to arrive exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in Holiday 2016.
