The cover for the next volume of One Piece has been revealed and it features Kaido in his monstrous dragon form. The Straw Hat Pirates are still in the Wano Country arc, facing their most dangerous foe yet. This will be the 101st volume of the series.

One Piece – created by Eiichiro Oda – began publishing in 1997 and has hit numerous major milestones throughout this year. From 1000 chapters and the 100th volume to 1000 episodes of the manga, there has been a lot for fans to celebrate. Now, they also have a look at the next volume that will be released in this hit Shōnen Jump series.

The newest volume is slated for release in Japan on December 3. This is the last in a series of volumes celebrating the hundredth milestone. Volumes 99, 100, and 101 have connecting covers that span the Wano Country arc. Volume 99 features Big Mom who was an antagonist in the Whole Cake Island arc, but is also part of the current arc. It also shows Chopper, Usopp, Jinbe, and Nico Robin. Volume 100 showcases Luffy in the center while also highlighting Sanji, Roronoa Zoro, Portgas D. Ace, and Yamato. Volume 101 brings Kaido to the forefront, while also including Nami, Franky, and Brook.

Reaching one hundred volumes is no easy feat and One Piece is readily surpassing that marker. Volume 101 will continue collecting the adventures of the crew in Wano Country against the Beast Pirates. This version of Kaido is his hybrid transformation, in which he is half-dragon, not his full dragon form. Additionally, it appears as though the tattoo on his left arm is missing on the cover, which could just be an artistic oversight since it is shown within the manga when he is in this form. Kaido has been the primary antagonist for this arc and he has been one of the most powerful yet.

Like previous foes, Kaido has defeated Luffy a few times, but that hasn’t stopped the pirate captain from rechallenging him – repeatedly. The Wano Country arc began with chapter 909, back in 2018, and appears to be the longest arc in the series yet. It will now span eleven volumes and at least one hundred and twenty-three chapters, with more still on the way. Kaido’s inclusion on the latest volume is a fitting choice, considering the battle that is still raging between him and Monkey D. Luffy.

This will be the fourth volume to feature Kaido on the cover, though it will be the first to show him in his human-beast hybrid form. His first appearance on Volume 92 showcased him as a full dragon, while Volume 94 and 95 showed him in his human form. He has split time within the series between each of them, but this volume features his fearsome hybrid form. This series isn’t easing up anytime soon and the battle between Luffy and Kaido rages on, making the newest volume a perfect mirror of not just the current adventure, but also the incredible feat of One Piece reaching this many volumes to begin with.
