Trick-or-treating might be off the cards in certain parts of the world this year, but that doesn’t mean that gamers can’t channel their Halloween energy in different ways. One fan of the series decided to turn an abnormal pumpkin they had found and creatively turn it into one of Team Rocket’s most recognizable Pokémon.

Pokémon fans can take part in Halloween-themed events for Pokémon Go users, but for some people that just isn’t enough, with one user over on Reddit finding a creative way to add their own Pokémon-themed touch to their Halloween decorations. Spotting a pumpkin that had split and developed into conjoining pumpkins, user DoughCos decided to make use of the anomaly and instead saw an opportunity to turn the odd-looking orange fruit into something more recognizable. With a few additional ridges added and a quick paintjob later, the pumpkin was transformed into one of the original Pokémon from the Kanto region: Weezing.

Sporting a cartoony purple paint finish, as well as some very wobbly looking eyebrows, the familiar form of Jesse’s poison gas Pokémon is there for everyone to see. The attention to detail on the creation is fantastic and understandably the comments are full of praise, with one user simply finishing their response with, “This is detail. This is art.” Weezing is certainly not an underappreciated member of the original Pokédex, having regular appearances in the anime series, and being one of the original 151 Pokémon to appear in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield from launch.

Those original 151 Pokémon found in the Kanto region have always been popular with the Pokémon community, and three Pokémon who have always been fan favorites have been given Galarian appropriate forms in the latest DLC for the game. The second part of the expansion pass for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, the Crown Tundra DLC which was launched yesterday, and added the long-awaited Galarian forms of Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno.

Following on from the release of the Isle of Armor in the summer, the Crown Tundra release adds in the three legendary birds as well as every other legendary Pokémon seen in the series so far. Early criticism of the games on the Nintendo Switch revolved around the size of the Pokédex, with fans expecting every Pokémon in the series to be available in the Galar region. Hopefully Nintendo can use the lessons learned from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield and use the Crown Tundra as inspiration for the upcoming Pokémon Snap, with an expanded Pokédex a must for the first-person simulation game.

There’s never been a better time to explore the Galar region, with both versions of the game currently down to $40 at GameStop, a fairly high discount for a game series that rarely sees titles stray from their MSRP.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield and the Crown Tundra DLC are available on Nintendo Switch now.
