A brand new Valentine’s Day event is coming to Pokémon GO at the end of the week, and Munna and Musharna will make their debut in the augmented reality game. The free-to-play ARG title, which allows players to travel around the real world to catch and battle Pokémon, has remained incredibly popular despite launching almost five years ago. This comes largely down to the fact that Niantic has constantly updated Pokémon GO with new content and features during that time, and it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

The upcoming Valentine’s Day event will arrive just a week before the Kanto Tour is due to launch on February 20. The highly-anticipated event will last just 24 hours and cost $11.99 to take part. The premium event comes in two different flavors, a Red and Green version, and will give users the chance to catch all 150 original Pokémon in their Shiny forms, with Legendary Pokémon such as Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo all acting as bosses in raids.

Pokémon GO developer Niantic has detailed the special content and awards coming to the mobile game as part of the Valentine’s Day event starting on February 14. The biggest news is that both Muna and its evolved form, Musharna, will be available to catch for the first time ever in the game. Additionally, there will be special challenges for players to complete, exclusive stickers, trade distance increases, and an increased chance to receive Berries and become Lucky Friends with other players. Certain Pokémon, such as Nidoran, Volbeat, and Feebas, will also spawn more frequently. Meanwhile, legendary Pokémon Latios and Latias will eachappear in five-star Raids, and the entire event’s set to run until February 18.

Most recently, Pokémon GO players have become able to take part in the Lunar New Year event. That promotion is running until February 20, offering Shiny Gyarados that can appear at any time alongside the addition of the Gyarados’s Mega Evolution form for the first time. There are also timed research challenges and bonuses available, which provide special rewards for a short period until the Lunar New Year event ends.

The annual Valentine’s Day event in Pokémon GO has become an annual tradition, often being used to introduce new Pokémon into the game or add significant content and gameplay features. This year looks set to be no different, and trainers are likely excited to catch and evolve Munna for the first time.
