Pokemon GO Best Entei Counters (January 2021)

The nonstop Pokemon GO Legendary Battle Raid rotations continue throughout the end of January 2021 and into February as the Johto beast trio prepare to make their next appearance in the mobile AR game. These were some of the very first Legendary Battle Raid bosses in the early months of Pokemon GO’s Battle Raid system and the trio are returning starting tomorrow. Entei, Raikou, and Suicune will each get their own chance to take over the 5-star tier over the next few weeks and the Fire-type is up first.

Although a lot of very powerful Fire-types have been released in Pokemon GO over the last few years, Entei still holds its own in the power rankings and is a fine pick for PvE and PvP in certain situations. The Johto Pokemon may no longer be holding the top spot when it comes to Fire-type powerhouses, but it still gets plenty of play and most trainers could benefit from having a few high IV copies in their Pokemon Storage. With that in mind, it’s a good time to double check the counter roster lineup before Entei raids take place from Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

A lot has changed since the last time time Entei appeared as a Battle Raid boss and many trainers may need to make some major updates to their counter rosters if they want to optimize their odds in the fight. There are new evolutions available, new move sets, and the Mega Evolution system; so obviously there’s quite a bit to account for. With that in mind, players should mostly focus on the fact that Entei is going to be weak to Ground-, Rock-, and Water-types. Building a roster with the best Pokemon from those types should help make this fight an easy win for anyone who has a small handful of friends to team up with for the battle…

Best Entei Counters

Blastoise (Mega) – Water Gun/Hydro Cannon

Rampardos – Smack Down/Rock Slide

Kyogre – Waterfall/Hydro Pump

Rhyperior – Mud Slap/Rock Wrecker

Kingler – Bubble/Crabhammer

Garchomp – Mud Shot/Earthquake

Terrakion – Smack Down/Rock Slide

Swampert – Mud Shot/Hydro Cannon

Landorus – Mud Shot/Earth Power

Groudon – Mud Shot/Earthquake

As always, players shouldn’t feel too bad if they are unable to build a counter roster based on these top of the metagame choices. The main thing to keep in mind is just exploiting the Raid Boss’ weaknesses, which in Entei’s case means throwing the best Water-, Rock-, and Ground-Pokemon available at it. Trainers should definitely consider burning through some Rare Candy and TMs if needed in order to make the fight a little easier.

As trainers continue working through these amazing Celebration events and enjoying the new era of the GO Beyond update as they count down to the next season, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
