Alyssa could’ve been portrayed as a one-dimensional male-gaze object of desire, but Adams makes her character’s emotions and motivations feel real — something seriously lacking in the romantic comedy genre.

Alan Rickman was a classically trained actor with a delightfully dry sense of humor. This made him perfect for the role of Alexander Dane, a self-important actor who’s sick of being relegated to the same sci-fi role, in Galaxy Quest.

Rickman clearly relished the opportunity to send up his own profession, while his dramatic chops came in handy for Dane’s final in-character monologue.

Cube was known as a tough, intimidating rap artist with a strong political stance, and the filmmaker worried audiences wouldn’t accept him as a comedian.

However, he proved within the first few moments of Friday’s opening scene that he had enviable comic talents. Sharing fantastic chemistry with his co-star Chris Tucker, Cube effortlessly carried the movie, which remains timelessly laugh-out-loud funny after 25 years.
