The Evil Within On Xbox Game Pass For PC Adds FirstPerson View & More

The recent addition of The Evil Within on Xbox Game Pass introduced a few updates to the Game Pass on PC version; one such change apparently includes the option to play from a first-person perspective. Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within counts among the 20 Bethesda titles that Microsoft just added to Xbox Game Pass.

The third-person survival horror series comes from Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami, who founded Tango Gameworks in 2010 following a brief stint at PlatinumGames. With two entries from The Evil Within IP under its belt, Tango is now hard at work on a new title, Ghostwire: Tokyo, which is set to launch sometime this fall on PC and PlayStation 5. Interestingly, it seems Ghostwire: Tokyo isn’t the only Tango game capable of leveraging the power of the latest console hardware.

According to The Evil Within speedrunner and YouTuber Jigsaw_Killer, the horror title’s Xbox Game Pass on PC iteration now boasts several extra bells and whistles. Chief among them is the ability to play in a first-person mode, along with a new FOV option. The surprising boost also added in an infinite ammo mode, low/medium camera bob options, icons for sneaking in first-person, and stamina adjustments that let protagonist Sebastian run for five seconds at default stamina as opposed to the original three-second sprint. Furthermore, Jigsaw_Killer claimed the experience now feels far “less janky.”

It’s unclear if these changes are also present on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Evil Within. Whether or not such improvements will eventually make their way to the game’s non-Xbox Game Pass iteration is another mystery entirely. Regardless, the Game Pass on PC updates sound as though they may provide the best way to experience Tango Gameworks’ first horror venture.

Yet another mystery is whether the studio ever plans on revisiting the franchise for a third entry. Despite rumors and the high hopes of many a fan, all has been quiet on The Evil Within front since the sequel’s 2017 release. And that could remain the case for a while, even if Tango decides to once more place players in the shoes of Sebastian Castellanos. As noted above, the crew currently has its hands full with Ghostwire: Tokyo, an action-adventure project that will offer a different type of supernatural experience.
