Creed Bratton is the gift that keeps giving on The Office. He’s an underrated character as he’s typically in the background and doesn’t have any extended storylines, but it’s his one-liners and quick wit that really has fans rooting for him.

What makes Creed so beloved by fans is the intrigue surrounding his background. He’s so mysterious and nothing ever seems to add up. Is his wild persona all an act or is he just totally awkward on-screen and is portrayed oddly on camera for the documentary they were shooting? 10 Creed Is The Scranton Strangler

For years, Office fans have sworn that Toby was the Scranton Strangler. He even was “strangled” by the stranger himself! However, what if it wasn’t Toby at all; what if the Scranton Strangler was actually Creed? Creed definitely has strange tendencies that could link him to some kind of mass killing in the Scranton area.

One fan even notes that the Scranton Strangler is wearing a hat in the sketch drawing of him, and in season nine, Creed is wearing a very similar hat!

9 Creed Killed Those That Stole From Dunder Mifflin

Remember when Holly and Michael hookup for the first time? They stayed late at work but couldn’t make it home quick enough to do the deed? The two of them hooked up in the staircase at Dunder Mifflin and left immediately after like a couple of school kids. What they forgot to do afterward, however, was lock the doors.

The next day they both found out Dunder Mifflin was robbed. The camera zooms over to Creed and he’s livid. “Nobody steals from Creed Bratton and gets away with it,” he says. Four seasons later, Creed shows up to the Halloween party with blood splattered all over him. This Redditor believes Creed finally hunted those who stole from him years prior!

8 Creed Has A Serious Illness

Is Creed deranged or does he have something more serious going on? One Office fan believes Creed is actually suffering from Alzheimer’s and isn’t getting the help he needs. They claim Creed’s personality shifted from seasons one through four and he became more erratic as the show proceeded.

He started forgetting things, didn’t know what he actually did at work, always called people the wrong name… His co-workers wrote him off as a weird guy but he could have used a helping hand.

7 Creed’s Real Goal In Life

Remember when Creed was upset about not being able to scuba dive? He literally thought he was working hard for his scuba certification, but a paper supplier in Scranton, Pennsylvania couldn’t be farther from that dream.

Well, one fan finally put together what Creed thought he was working towards finding the Loch Ness Monster. He drops the scuba line in season six and then one season later, he joins Andy’s seminar and describes all the riches he’ll gain one he locates the Loch Ness Monster!

6 Toby & Creed Teamed Up

This may seem far fetched but what if Toby and Creed teamed up as the Scranton Strangler? After all, both men have been theorized as the strangler, why wouldn’t they become a murderous duo?

One fan notes at the end of season nine, we find out Toby moves to New York and lives with a bunch of roommates, and Creed is arrested. But in classic Creed form, he probably weasels himself out of jail, connects with Toby, and the two go on a secret killing spree on new turf: New York. They are now known as the New York Stranglers.

5 This One Scene Is Very Telling

Office fans will never forget the moment Jim and Pam kissed for the first time after casino night. It was a huge moment for the characters and for future storylines.

In the episode “Lecture Circuit,” however, Creed is seen giving unsolicited advice to Andy over Erin. He tells Andy to “just go right in and kiss her.” Andy thinks it’s a risky move but Creed insists he’s never stirred him wrong and even calls him Jim… Could this mean Creed and Jim spoke at casino night, and it was Creed who encouraged Jim to kiss Pam? Perhaps Creed was having a flashback moment with Andy and called him Jim because he said the same thing years prior?

4 Creed Is Often Ignored

Creed isn’t the main character of The Office but that doesn’t mean his character isn’t important. One fan even noticed that although Creed rambles about nonsense often, that doesn’t mean he’s not making sense. The Redditor noted that in “The Return,” Creed is asked where Dwight is and he says “Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird.”

While none of that answered the question, Creed isn’t wrong… In previous episodes, it was rumored that their former boss Ed Truck was decapitated and they really did have a funeral for a bird! He’s not really lying, he just rambles about the truth in odd ways.

3 There’s Nothing Wrong With Creed, He’s Just Old

When Creed was promoted to regional manager for a brief time, it was noted that he was the only person in the office who was working there the longest.

He’s clearly the oldest man in the office compared to his co-workers but his age doesn’t seem to be a reason for his odd behaviors over the years. He’s not deranged or ill, he’s just an old man with an eccentric personality with nothing to lose.

2 Robert Knew Creed’s Real Identity

Robert California was probably one of the most interesting people on the show aside from Creed. He could easily read people and figure them out within seconds. Due to his keen sense, he never took Creed seriously. Robert knew Creed wasn’t Creed. In “The List,” the office freaks out when they find a list of their names sorted into two columns.

On the right side, it says “Old Man” instead of Creed. Could this mean Robert knew Creed wasn’t who he claimed to be and decided to call him Old Man for the time being?

1 Does Creed Work For An Organized Crime Organization?

If it came out that Creed worked for an underground organized crime organization, not many Office fans would be surprised. He’s so mysterious as it is, anything is possible. One fan theorizes that Creed is apart of a crime organization because he answers the phone “go for Creed,” stole an identity, knows a foreign language, and sells fake IDs to minors.

There’s far too many odd things that Creed does that prove he’s doing more than what’s seen on camera.
