The National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA) just revealed a weird and wonderful new collectible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Raphael transformed into Frankenstein’s Monster from the Universal classic, Frankenstein. The company is known for producing collectibles of iconic horror figures and recently added TMNT to its list of licenses. Of course, the turtles themselves are pop icons almost as famous as Frankenstein’s Monster. Like the classic horror icon, the turtles are often used in crossovers, like a previous toy line where they did a crossover with the Power Rangers.

Now, there is a new crossover with TMNT. Last October, NECA announced that they would be releasing the line of action figures that features a crossover between Universal Monsters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The line will bring the spooky Halloween spirit by portraying the famous turtles as classic monsters from Universal Pictures. The announcement also revealed Raphael to be the first turtle figure to be released.

This week, NECA revealed images of the TMNT and Universal Monsters crossover figure on Instagram, and it is a sight to see. The toy company blends the tough-talking Raphael from TMNT with the much less articulate Monster from Frankenstein for their new 7-inch figure. The post shows the packaging for the upcoming collectible figure, which recalls the style of a classic Universal horror poster and offers a look at the figure and its accessories. In the caption, NECA states “Raphael as Frankenstein’s Monster” will be available sometime in early 2022, and the comments section can’t wait. Check out the images below:

From these new images of the crossover figure and its packaging, excited collectors can fully appreciate the detail NECA put into this line. The monster mash-up is both unmistakably Raphael as Frankenstein’s Monster, but it doesn’t look like Raphael in a Halloween costume either. The movie poster design on the packaging wouldn’t be out of place on an actual Universal monster movie while the classic TMNT font and Raphael’s detailed features honor TMNT perfectly. Raphael even has the turtle warts from Jim Henson’s creature design.

The TMNT are being rebooted and redesigned constantly, so it isn’t unusual to see a new line of TMNT toys. From the late 1980s until now, TMNT action figures have been hugely popular which is why new versions keep being released. Fans both grown and young are driven to collect each version. Collectors are sure to be excited for NECA’s newest line of TMNT figures because of its horror movie twist. The crossover between the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Universal Monsters is definitely going to add variety to any collector’s shelf.
