Tim Allen has wrapped his final recording session on Toy Story 4, shortly after Tom Hanks shared his final moments on set. Allen voices Buzz Lightyear, the toy space ranger whose arrival in the original Toy Story sparked controversy with Sheriff Woody (Hanks). Fans of the beloved animated franchise know that Buzz and Woody have been the two lead characters in each film, and the pair ultimately settled their differences in favor of friendship. Back in 2010, many thought that Toy Story 3 would be the final movie in the series, but now (nine years later), Pixar’s flagship property is set to return to theaters.

Announced back in 2014, Toy Story 4 is one of the year’s most highly anticipated films. However, the movie has hit several stumbling blocks along the way, including the departure of co-director John Lasseter, after he became embroiled in sexual misconduct allegations, and Pixar throwing out most of the initial Toy Story 4 script in the wake of his departure. The film’s moving along steadily now, and the first Toy Story 4 teasers were released last November. In addition to Allen & Hanks, the film’s cast includes Patricia Arquette, Bonnie Hunt, Blake Clark, Estelle Harris, Laurie Metcalf, Jeff Garlin, and Wallace Shawn. With the June release date fast approaching, the Toy Story 4 cast are finishing their final voice-work for the movie.

Much like Hanks, Allen took to Twitter to announce he’s wrapped his recording sessions on Toy Story 4. You can read his message below.

Finished my Buzz for Toy Story 4 today and it got emotional. Wonderful full body story. You are all going to love the work this incredible team at Pixar created. We are all going to love this story….man its got everything.

This isn’t the first time Allen has mentioned how emotional Toy Story 4 is. Hanks has likewise talked about how emotional he got during his Toy Story 4 recording sessions. It’s possible the film’s ending involves a tear-jerking moment between Buzz and Woody, after more than two decades of the pair being friends. Between plots details for Toy Story 4 indicating the movie focuses heavily on the idea of what it really means to be a toy and the tearful reception amongst the series’ main stars, fans should prepare for an impactful movie-going experience.

It remains to be seen if Toy Story 4 truly marks the end of the franchise, following what many regarded as a perfect finale in Toy Story 3. However, if the film really is about the toys finally learning a purpose for their existence, it could mean the end of the road for not only Woody and Buzz, but the entire gang fans have grown to love for many years. Either way, the rest of the film’s cast have presumably either wrapped their own recordings sessions (like Allen and Hanks) or will do so soon, a few months before audiences are reunited with their animated counterparts when Toy Story 4 arrives in theaters.

Film is an art form so I seek to criticize it where it falls short, and applaud where it shines bright. There is no such thing as a perfect film but there are several critically acclaimed films. I do my own personal reviews on my YouTube channel @Critical Overlord. I love horror, action, comedy, and drama more than anything.
