Netflix’s You centers on Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), as he falls obsessively and violently in love — here is everyone he has killed so far. Based on Caroline Kepnes’ novels, the psychological thriller You has been well-received by both critics and viewers, due to its gory deconstruction of a fairy-tale romance. The show initially showcases the blossoming of an ideal love story, only to reveal that its male lead is far from the typical prince charming, which You instead replaces with the intelligent, charismatic, sadistic stalker Joe Goldberg.

Deviating from the conventions of a romantic hero, Joe calculates his every move, stalks and manipulates his targets, and justifies his crimes for the sake of manufacturing love. Throughout the show’s first three seasons, Joe’s obsessive tendencies remain constant, pushing him to be possessive and violent. In fact, no matter where he is — New York, Los Angeles, or Madre Linda — it is simply characteristic of the unlikable and villainous Joe to leave behind a string of murders if that will lead him to his happily ever after.

The finale of You season 3 finds Joe in yet another location, searching for Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). His willingness to scour the world to reunite with her only hints at the possible complications along the way. However, before he literally eliminates more obstructions to their love, here is everyone Joe has killed so far.

Benjamin “Benji” Ashby

It did not take long for Joe to show his true colors, as by the end of just the first episode, Joe has already attacked someone: Benji Ashby (Lou Taylor Pucci). At the time, Benji was the boyfriend of Guinevere Beck, Joe’s current obsession. Since he posed a threat to their potential relationship, he had to be eliminated. After hitting him over the head with a mallet, Joe locked him in the glass cage found in the basement of Mr. Mooney’s (Mark Blum) bookstore. Days later, Joe decided to kill him by giving him a latte laced with peanut oil, which triggered a deadly allergic reaction.

Peach Anaïs Salinger

An influential, wealthy woman, Peach (Shay Mitchell) had been friends with Beck since college. She thrived on controlling Beck’s friends, as she was secretly in love with her. She also never liked Joe, seeing through his façade and looking down on his financial situation. Realizing that Peach’s codependency with Beck had to end, Joe followed her while jogging and knocked her down with a huge rock. However, she recovered and even took Beck away for the weekend, prompting Joe to follow them. When Peach discovered that Joe had been with them, she pulled a gun on him, only to get herself killed. Joe then staged the scene to make it look like Peach killed herself.

Elijah Thornton

In You season 1, there were heavy implications that Joe killed his ex-girlfriend, Candace Stone (Ambyr Childers). In a flashback episode, it was revealed that he found out she was cheating on him with a music producer, Elijah (Esteban Benito). When Joe learned about this, he confronted Elijah at a rooftop party. Things escalated, and Joe pushed him over the ledge.

Ron

Joe befriended his neighbor Paco (Luca Padovan), who lives with his mother, Claudia (Victoria Cartagena), and step-father, Ron (Daniel Cosgrove). Paco constantly witnessed his mother’s abuse, so when he finally got fed up, he hit Ron with a baseball bat. Unfortunately, this angered Ron, who chased him outside, where Joe appeared and stabbed him in the neck.

Guinevere Beck

Not even Beck (Elizabeth Lail) could escape Joe’s murderous tendencies. Their whirlwind romance ended with Peach’s death, but they eventually reconciled. Afterward, Beck found Joe’s box of disturbing mementos, pushing him to lock her up in the glass cage, too. While imprisoned, Beck tried to outsmart Joe by suggesting Dr. Nicky (John Stamos) be the scapegoat for his crimes, empathizing with him and being grateful for his machinations. He was lured into the cage, giving her time to call for help. However, Joe quickly escaped and killed her.

Jasper Krenn

After the events of You season 1, Joe fled to Los Angeles and adopted the identity of Will Bettelheim. This led him to be pursued by Jasper (Steven W. Bailey), who was after the original Will’s debt. Joe failed in securing the full payment, so Jasper cut off the tip of his pinky finger for leverage. When the deadline passed, Joe lured him into his new glass cage and killed him in retaliation. After having his finger reattached, Joe disposes of Jasper’s body by butchering it into pieces and putting it through the grocery store Anavrin’s meat grinder.

Joshua “Henderson” Bunter

Joe suspected that the comedian Henderson (Chris D’Elia) was planning to take advantage of his neighbor Ellie Alves (Jenna Ortega). His hunch was confirmed by Ellie’s sister herself, Delilah (Carmela Zumbado), who survived Henderson’s assault. After discovering evidence that Henderson had been sexually abusing underage girls, Joe tied him up and drugged him, forcing a confession. This led to Henderson attempting to escape and Joe pushing him down the stairs, accidentally killing him. His death was once again staged as a suicide, but the authorities still launched an investigation.

Sandy Goldberg’s partner

In interspersed flashback scenes in You season 2, Joe’s traumatic childhood was revealed. On the one hand, he had a negligent mother, Sandy (Magda Apanowicz), who often left him in pursuit of hookups. On the other, he had to constantly witness his mother getting abused. Joe finally got fed up, so he shot his mother’s partner. Sandy decided to leave him in a foster home afterward.

Ryan Goodwin

Joe was committed to deliberately avoiding killing anyone in Madre Linda. However, before the ending of You season 3, this promise was broken. As Joe’s newfound obsession, Marienne and family were at risk, he would do anything. Marienne was in a messy custody battle with her ex-husband, Ryan (Scott Michael Foster). By painting himself as a sober, respected news broadcaster, Ryan got full custody, which made Marienne consider moving away from Joe to follow her daughter. Unwilling to lose the love of his life, Joe brutally stabbed Ryan, taking him out of the picture for good.

Love Quinn

When Joe’s wife, Love (Victoria Pedretti), found out about his affair and involvement with Ryan’s murder, she confronted him over dinner. To prepare for Love’s possible attack, Joe grabbed a knife covered with aconite, a paralyzing substsance. However, Joe, who had anticipated this move, took an antidote and prepared a lethal dose of the substance, too. He then staged Love’s death in the season finale as a suicide, before burning their house down and fleeing to Paris. It was Joe Goldberg’s final murder in You, so far.
