Zelda BOTW How to Get the Master Cycle Zero (Champions’ Ballad DLC)

Players can test their skills and unlock the Master Cycle Zero in the Champions’ Ballad DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The Master Cycle Zero is a motorbike that Link can ride across Hyrule instead of a horse in Breath of the Wild. Although the Master Cycle Zero doesn’t need to be tamed like a regular mount does, players will instead need to give it fuel so it can run.

The Master Cycle Zero can take nearly any type of item and use it as fuel. Players will need to hold the item they’re going to feed it, then walk up to the back of the bike and interact with it to deposit the item for fuel. The Master Cycle Zero can reach top speeds and complete big jumps without Link taking any fall damage upon landing. The bike will appear as a Rune in the Sheikah Slate, so players just need to switch to the Master Cycle Zero and use it like any other Rune to summon and ride it.

Players don’t need to finish the base game in order to start the DLC quest, but the four Divine Beasts in Breath of the Wild need to be completed. To unlock the Master Cycle Zero, players will need to finish the entire Champions’ Ballad DLC in Breath of the Wild. This involves completing the trials at the Great Plateau, then going to each of the regions near the four main races and completing various quests as well as boss fights. Players will face a variety of challenges throughout the DLC, but they’re worth completing to unlock the Master Cycle Zero.

How to Complete the Great Plateau Trials

To start “EX the Champions’ Ballad” in Breath of the Wild, players will need to visit the Shrine of Resurrection. This shrine is located in Breath of the Wild’s Great Plateau, and it’s where Link first wakes up at the beginning of the game. Upon arrival, players will need to interact with the Sheikah Slate Terminal, then they’ll be given a weapon that drains their health to one-quarter of a heart. No matter how many hearts players have gained, the One-Hit Obliterator will always leave Link with the minimum amount of health.

The trials are straightforward, but Link’s lack of health makes them difficult to complete. Players will need to travel to four different areas within the Great Plateau and defeat every enemy in that area. The One-Hit Obliterator will kill any enemy, including Moblins or Guardians, in just one hit, but players can only strike with it twice, then it will take a short time to recharge.

Although players won’t have any other Breath of the Wild melee weapons, they can still use a bow and any regular or special arrows they have. Players should stock up on arrows before starting the trial because if they leave the Great Plateau, then the challenge will end and the One-Hit Obliterator will be returned to the Shrine of Resurrection. In each area, after the enemies are taken out, either with arrows or the One-Hit Obliterator, players will need to complete a shrine. Each shrine has a test where players need to avoid spikes, defeat Guardians, or use their Runes to progress. Once the four shrines are completed, Link will move on to the next set of trials.

How to Complete the Champion Trials

In the next section, players will need to visit each of the four Divine Beasts and complete trials related to the four Champions in Breath of the Wild. There’s a pedestal near each of the Divine Beasts that has three pictures depicting the location of different trials. Some of the trials involve defeating enemies while others will require players to solve a puzzle. The trials can be found at the following locations:

Urbosa’s Trials

Mipha’s Trials

Daruk’s Trials

Revali’s Trials

After each Breath of the Wild quest is completed, a shrine will appear, and players have to enter and solve the puzzle within. Once every shrine is finished, players will need to return to the Divine Beast associated with each Champion, then defeat each form of Ganon again. Doing so will give the Champion ability for that Divine Beast a permanent cooldown reduction. After all of the Ganon forms are defeated, players need to return to the Shrine of Resurrection for one last trial.

How to Complete the Divine Trial

The final trial in “EX the Champions’ Ballad” is the Divine Trial beneath the Shrine of Resurrection. The map for this area is similar to a Divine Beast in that players need to interact with it to change the dungeon. Players will have a few puzzles to solve involving switching the direction of the gears from the map and using different Runes, like Magnesis or Stasis.

In each section of the dungeon, there will be a Sheikah Slate Terminal that players need to interact with. Once that’s finished, they can face the final boss: Monk Maz Koshia, a powerful enemy in Breath of the Wild. The boss will zip across the arena to strike at Link, create clones of himself, and, eventually, become giant. Using perfectly timed dodges will allow players to perform a Flurry Rush to deal a lot of damage. Urbosa’s Fury and Stasis can also be used against him to make the fight easier. After defeating Monk Maz Koshia, players will be given their reward.

Once the Divine Trial is complete and players defeat the boss, the Master Cycle Zero will automatically be unlocked. Players can use the Master Cycle Zero to traverse most of Hyrule with the exception of the Gerudo Desert, the fiery portions of Eldin, and any shrine interiors. Completing the Champions’ Ballad DLC in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will reward players with a variety of items, upgrades to the four champion skills, and the Master Cycle Zero.
