Zelda Breath Of The Wild 2 Link Fan Art Is Stunning

After a new trailer for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild dropped during E3, fan artists have been smitten with the new look for the hero Link. This includes one artist on Pixiv, who drew an absolutely stunning depiction of the Hero of the Wilds. The art is notable for its detail on Link’s arm, which appears to be fairly accurate to the trailer.

When Breath of the Wild 2 was first announced at E3 2019, fans were quick to notice a trail of green magic overtaking Link’s arm. What exactly this magic would do was theorized heavily. The gameplay trailer revealed that, while it did deform Link’s arm, it also gave him the ability to use new powers. While some of the powers are similar to the ones from the Sheikah Slate (Stasis, for example), others appear to be brand-new for the sequel.

The fanart is by Japanese artist ゆきちこ on Pixiv. The art shows Link in the new outfit shown off in the trailer, right arm on full display. It is entitled “続編のリンク,” which translates to “Sequel Link.” The translated description for the image reads:

“When the first trailer for BoTW came out, I remember drawing an unfamiliar Link in blue clothes and posting it on Miiverse, which was exciting! It’s fun to watch the trailer’s consideration and analysis videos.”

Since being posted on June 16th, the art has received over 2,000 views and 363 favorites. Pixiv does not offer a way to comment on posts.

It’s hard to determine exactly how Link’s arm looks from the few close-up shots in the new trailer. However, the fanart has seemingly done a wonderful job in recreating it accurately. Even the new tattoo-esque angular markings on Link’s back are accounted for. The outfit also looks very accurate, with details like the pouch and tattered cloth clearly visible. A closer look in a future trailer might reveal the art to be inaccurate, but for now, it’s one of the best looks at Link’s new design available to fans. This could also make speculation easier – the new hairstyle and Gerudo-like patterns have lead to much theorizing among gamers.

The Breath of the Wild sequel is arguably Nintendo’s most anticipated game at this point in time. It’s certainly the one with the most hype as the gameplay trailer has amassed over 4 million views on YouTube in just two days. Fanart like the one pictured above is plentiful across all major social media and art hosting websites. Even though a great deal about Breath of the Wild 2 is still a mystery, it’s evident that fans are eagerly awaiting their chance to return to Hyrule and explore all the new features have to offer.
